Iran FM to go to Geneva to continue Palestine diplomacy

The Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Nasser Kan’ani, said on Tuesday that, “Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian will travel to Geneva فخ continue diplomatic efforts related to the Palestinian issue, especially pursuing the issue of sending humanitarian aid to the oppressed people of Gaza on the international stage also in order to meet and hold talks with some officials of the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

Over the past few weeks since the launch of the Zionist Israeli regime’s aggression on the Gaza Strip, Amir-Abdollahian also made trips to the region. In the first round of his tour, he went to Iraq, Lebanon, Syria and Qatar, and in the meetings with the officials of those Muslims countries, he discussed the situation in Gaza and Palestine and also held talks with the leaders of the Lebanese and Palestinian Resistance in Beirut and Doha. 

After that, the Iranian foreign minister went to Jeddah to participate in the extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and in addition to participating in the meeting and presenting suggestions, he met and talked with some counterparts and officials present at the Jeddah meeting.

He also went to New York to participate in the UN General Assembly meeting on Gaza situation. While in New York, he participated in a UNGA meeting and also met with the UN Secretary-General and the foreign ministers of Indonesia and Jordan and discussed the situation in Gaza with them.

In the second round of his consultations in the region, Amir-Abdollahian visited Qatar and next Turkey and met with the officials of those countries.

The top diplomat of Iran further accompanied President Ebrahim Raeisi on their visit to the Saudi Arabia capital to attend the OIC-Arab Summit to discuss the situation in Gaza.
