Hyderabad: In a remark likely to trigger political debate, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday said some detractors were trying to sabotage him and urged people to resist such attempts.
Without naming anyone, he said that while the Congress government was pursuing development, some individuals were working against it from behind the scenes and digging trenches.
“You should take the responsibility of burying them in the same trenches. I will take care of those who are approaching from the front fairly,” Revanth Reddy said to the gathering at Dr BR Ambedkar birth anniversary celebrations at Tank Bund.
His remarks assume significance in the backdrop of dissent and internal differences within sections of the party. He cautioned that if such attempts were not stopped, they could cause serious damage.
The Chief Minister also alleged that opposition parties were running false campaigns as they were unable to accept the government’s welfare and development programmes.
Even after Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka stated in the Assembly that 19,768 posts had been filled since December 2023, Revanth Reddy reiterated that the government had provided 67,000 jobs.
“Nearly 87 per cent of these jobs went to SC, ST, BC and minority communities, which amounts to over 50,000 posts,” the Chief Minister claimed.
He also said 4.5 lakh Indiramma houses had been sanctioned and that most were allotted to Dalits and tribal communities. “This government is yours and it is your responsibility to protect it,” he said.
The Chief Minister said the government had fulfilled its promise on SC categorisation.
He said long-pending differences were addressed and that harmony was promoted among communities. He added that while there could be some temporary differences, they would be resolved over time.
