Hyderabad: A retired Army soldier displayed remarkable courage by foiling a chain-snatching attempt and helping police nab a habitual offender in Amberpet.
The incident occurred on April 14, when the suspect, Abdul Mannan, tried to snatch a gold chain from Ch Ramudu while he was getting off a bus. Despite his age, Ramudu resisted and overpowered the suspect before alerting the police.
Responding swiftly, Amberpet patrol personnel reached the spot within minutes and took Mannan into custody. Mannan, a repeat offender with over 30 previous cases across Telangana, is also listed as a suspect in Habeebnagar and is wanted in another case at Mangalhat police station.
City Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar honoured Ramudu at the old Commissionerate office in Basheerbagh on Thursday.
