Oman has strongly denounced Israel’s genocidal campaign against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, calling on the International Criminal Court (ICC) to probe the regime’s “war crimes’ in the besieged enclave.

The Omani Foreign Ministry made the plea in a statement on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, on Saturday, urging the ICC to prosecute “war criminals” responsible for the massacres of innocent civilian Palestinians.

It also noted that Israeli war crimes include the horrific airstrike near a UN school in the Jabalia refugee camp, which left at least 27 people dead, as well as the bombing of the main entrance of Shifa Hospital in Gaza, which left several people dead and dozens of others wounded.

The ministry further emphasized the “urgent need for a true awakening of the international community” to put an end to Israel’s clear violation of “international principles, laws, and agreements.”

The latest development comes as Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi had already called on the international community to hold Israel accountable for targeting civilians in Gaza and take immediate action to stop the massacre of Palestinians.

Israel has been bombing Gaza since October 7, when the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas launched the surprise attack, dubbed Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, in the occupied territories in response to the Israeli regime’s intensified crimes against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

The aggression has so far killed 9,488 Palestinians, including nearly 3,900 children and 2,509 women. More than 23,500 Palestinians have also been wounded.

Tel Aviv has also blocked water, food, and electricity to Gaza, plunging the coastal strip into a humanitarian crisis.
