In an interview for Mehr News Agency, Abolfazl Amouei commented on the resolution proposed by the United States to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on the Palestinian crisis.
The US is in no legal and moral position to present a consensus-building resolution with its behavior in supporting the Zionist regime and killing the oppressed Palestinian people in Gaza, the Iranian lawmaker said, adding that even the US officials do not expect their proposed resolution to be approved by the Security Council.
Referring to the veto of the cease-fire resolution in Gaza by the US recently, he noted that in recent days the resolutions that had more balancing aspects and were presented by other countries were vetoed by the US just because those resolutions did not support the crimes of the Zionists.
He clarified that since the US follows a one-sided, non-impartial, and protectionist approach to the Zionist regime, any effort they make in international bodies does not have the necessary legitimacy and neutrality and, therefore cannot be fruitful.
Emphasizing that the most important demand of international public opinion is ending the murder of the people of Gaza and their immediate access to humanitarian aid, Amouei stated that unfortunately, there is not enough attention to these issues in the draft resolution presented by the US, adding that even if a resolution is passed by the US to the Security Council, it would not be fair and effective.
The senior lawmaker went on to say that Iran’s plan for Palestine is a clear plan that demands a referendum for all the original inhabitants of the Palestinian lands to play their role in determining their destiny.
He stressed that Iran is definitely against the unilateralism of the US and the crimes of the Zionist regime in Palestine and supports the full rights of the Palestinian people to have the right to determine their own destiny.
