Hyderabad: BRS leaders demanded immediate withdrawal of GO Ms No.14 placing BC Atma Gourava Bhavans under government control, and warned that the party would mobilise BC associations for a State-wide agitation, if the order was not revoked. They accused the Congress government of taking away the autonomy of BC communities over the buildings and valuable lands allotted to them during the previous BRS regime.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Friday, former Minister V Srinivas Goud said all caste associations participated in the Telangana movement, hoping that a separate State would address their problems. He said former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao allotted valuable plots in Hyderabad to BC associations to honour their self-respect.
He questioned the need for the Congress government’s intervention, stating that the government was seeking to take control of the buildings as land values had increased substantially. He said a round-table meeting would be held the next day to decide the future course of action. He also questioned the status of the Congress’s Kamareddy BC Declaration, the promised BC sub-plan and the annual allocation of Rs 20 crore.
Former MP Badugula Lingaiah Yadav accused Revanth Reddy of discrimination against BCs, while the previous BRS government sought to strengthen their political and economic position.
Former MLAs Jaipal Yadav, V Gangadhar Goud and Anjaiah Yadav said the government should implement the earlier orders issued by the BRS regime and warned of agitation if GO 14 was not withdrawn. They said the Congress was attempting to create divisions among the BC communities and undermine their ability to manage the buildings independently.
