Four players jointly lead Open category at Brilliant Trophy chess tournament

Hyderabad: Eight players — Advik Sahasya, Anish Devalkar, M. Balaji, Jathin Reddy, Mayank Alkotie, M. Adithya, Purav Jain and V. Akshith — shared the lead with three points each after three rounds of the 245th Brilliant Trophy chess tournament at Brilliant Grammar High School in Dilsukhnagar here on Saturday.

Ayaan Aditya, Pratheek Veekshith, Kundana Thipparthi, Hemanth Eluri and Sai Vignesh were in joint second place with 2.5 points each.


In the Open category, four players — V. Mattaiah, Shaik Md. Irfan, Rishi Pallagani and Lella Devansh — shared the lead with three points each after three rounds.

G. Srinivas, J. Saikiran, Mallesh, Aashish Reddu and Perumallu were in joint second place with 2.5 points each.

Junior category, Round 3: Dhruvaa Sai (2) lost to Advik Sahasya (3); Jathin Reddy (3) beat Gnanadithya (2); Pratheek Veekshith (2.5) drew with Kundana Thipparthi (2.5); Mayank Alkotie (3) beat Aarush Goud (2); Aarush Rao (2) lost to Purav Jain (3).

Open category: V. Mattaiah (3) beat Ishanth Karthikeya (2); Vikranth Reddy (2) lost to Rishi Pallagani (3); Shaik Md. Irfan (3) beat Madhusudhana Chary (2); A. Aashish Reddy (2.5) drew with Y. Muralimohan (2.5); J. Saikiran (2.5) drew with K. Perumallu (2.5).
