Warangal: Tension prevailed at MGM Hospital in Warangal on Tuesday after portions of the ceiling collapsed in the RICU and physiotherapy departments. No one was present at the spots at the time, averting a major accident.
Following the incident, police were deployed in large numbers at the hospital and restrictions were imposed on media entry.
Former BRS MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar, who visited the hospital to enquire about the condition of patients, was stopped by police. The BRS leaders and police reportedly entered into an argument when the party workers attempted to enter the hospital.
Vinay Bhaskar alleged that police kicked him in the abdomen and that his hand was fractured during the incident. Visuals of the confrontation surfaced online, triggering severe backlash against the police. The former MLA was admitted to Ajara Hospital in the city and was undergoing treatment.
The latest incident came days after portions of the ceiling collapsed in the Aarogyasri ward on Sunday, injuring three patients and five others. The injured included patients undergoing treatment for paralysis and breathlessness, along with attendants and sanitation staff.
