Hyderabad: Suryapet MLA and former minister G Jagadish Reddy on Tuesday questioned the right of Congress MPs and MLAs to enter private properties without the owners’ permission. He sought to know who authorised and funded their recent visits to properties of BRS leaders.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Tuesday, Jagadish Reddy asked whether Congress leaders would allow outsiders to enter their homes and lands without permission. He also questioned whether their transport was arranged by the Congress party or the government, and whether Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy or Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka had made the arrangements.
Jagadish Reddy said Congress leaders had gathered at Praja Bhavan with plans to visit agricultural lands and private properties of BRS leaders. He questioned their authority to inspect or conduct inquiries on private land and asked what the outcome was of the much-publicised five-day tours.
“They visited the properties of BRS leaders, which had already been declared in their respective election affidavits. What did they achieve after these visits?” he asked.
He stated that the Congress government was diverting attention from its failure to provide irrigation water to farmers in the Krishna and Godavari river basins. He said farmers were being forced to use generators for agriculture due to erratic power supply.
He also questioned why Congress leaders were not visiting the dried-up fields of farmers and extending support instead of visiting private properties. He demanded that the government and Congress clarify who was responsible for the tours.
On allegations regarding his land holdings, Jagadish Reddy said he had disclosed his land in Maddur village in Shabad mandal in his affidavit. He dismissed allegations by Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy that he owned valuable land near the airport as baseless.
