Nalgonda: BRS MLA and former Minister G Jagadish Reddy dismissed the Congress leaders’ surveys of lands belonging to BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao, former Ministers KT Rama Rao and T Harish Rao as a diversionary exercise aimed at diverting attention from farmers’ problems.
Reacting to the visits by Congress MPs, MLAs and officials to the properties, Jagadish Reddy said the surveys had yielded nothing and questioned the expenditure of public money on them. He said the properties declared by BRS leaders in their election affidavits were already in the public domain.
He reminded that land-related disputes were handled by revenue officials and criminal cases by the police. He questioned the need for Congress MPs and MLAs to undertake political tours around BRS leaders’ properties.
Jagadish Reddy stated that the exercise was being undertaken for publicity and to divert attention from farmers facing shortages of irrigation water and power. He asked the government to focus instead on providing water and uninterrupted power to protect standing crops.
The former Minister also alleged that the Congress government was committing irregularities in the name of 22-A lands and said people were watching the developments. “However much you divert attention through the media, you cannot turn dried-up fields green,” he said, urging the government to stop the drama and concentrate on farmers’ issues and development.
