Hyderabad: Heavy rain lashed parts of Secunderabad on Sunday night, inundating roads and low-lying areas, as HYDRAA teams cleared drains and pumped out floodwater to prevent water stagnation.

Begumpet, Chikoti Gardens, Bible House, Oliphanta Bridge, Alugadda Bavi Bridge and Lalaguda were inundated, according to a press release issued on Monday.

Floodwater overflowed onto roads in Prakash Nagar and Chikoti Gardens, while water accumulated near Shyamlal Building Ganesh Temple. DRF teams removed garbage obstructing water flow at some locations and deployed pumps elsewhere, ensuring that no water remained stagnant by 8 am.

HYDRAA Additional Director Varla Papayya inspected the affected areas and reviewed drainage and flood-prevention operations.

Hussain Sagar gates were opened in coordination with irrigation officials to prevent floodwater from backing up into the upper areas.
