Kumkumarchana held at historic Gandimaisamma Temple ahead of Bonalu

A special Kunkumarchana ritual was performed at Sri Gandimaisamma Temple in Asif Nagar on the last Friday of Ashada Masam, with large participation from women devotees. The temple committee is preparing for the upcoming Bonalu festival, expecting a heavy turnout of worshippers.

Kumkumarchana held at historic Gandimaisamma Temple ahead of Bonalu

Hyderabad: A grand Kunkumarchana was performed at the historic Sri Gandimaisamma Temple in Asif Nagar on Friday on the occasion of the last Friday of Ashada Masam.

A large number of women devotees participated in the special prayers and performed Kunkumarchana, seeking the blessings of Gandimaisamma Ammavaru. The ritual is conducted every year ahead of the Bonalu festival as part of the traditional celebrations at the temple.


The temple is revered as the Grama Devatha of Asif Nagar and holds immense spiritual and cultural significance for the local community. During Bonalu, the shrine witnesses a heavy influx of devotees who offer prayers to the deity.

Temple committee members said elaborate arrangements were being made in view of the expected heavy turnout during the Bonalu celebrations. As part of the preparations, Temple committee members K.Sai Baba, K. Srinivas Rao, J.Srinivas Rao, N. Vinayak Rao and A. Mahesh Kumar reviewed the arrangements.
