Four devotees died in separate Ganesh immersion-related incidents in Nirmal, Karimnagar and Jagtial districts from Wednesday to Friday. Two drowned, one was electrocuted and another reportedly died of cardiac arrest during immersion processions and other related activities across the districts.

Nirmal/Karimnagar/Jagtial: In four different incidents, four devotees died in Nirmal, Karimnagar and Jagtial districts from Thursday to Friday.
In the latest instance, a daily-wage laborer drowned in an irrigation tank while taking part in the immersion of a Ganesh idol in the backwaters of Kaddam Narayana Reddy Project at Kurrugudam on Friday morning.
Police said that Chunchu Ramesh (45) drowned in the backwaters of the project. He is survived by a wife, son and daughter. Based on a complaint received from his wife, a case has been registered. Investigations have been initiated.
On Thursday, Lokande Vishal (26) of Elvi village drowned in Godavari river while taking a dip in the river near Basar after attending the immersion of an idol. Thandra Ahan Rudra (16) was feared drowned during immersion of idols at Buddipelli of Karimnagar district early on Thursday morning.
Meanwhile, Koppula Rajashekhar (23) was electrocuted after touching a live wire when he was involved in installing a sound system at an immersion procession at Kothapet village in Jagtial district on Wednesday night. Toparapu Ajay (48) died reportedly of cardiac arrest while dancing in the procession at Thulasinagar in Jagtial town on Thursday.
