Hyderabad police have issued a safety advisory urging motorists and pedestrians to exercise caution during ongoing rains, highlighting risks of waterlogging, poor visibility, and slippery roads. The advisory stresses safe driving practices, vehicle maintenance checks, and vigilance near flooded stretches and civic works.

Hyderabad: With intermittent rains continuing across Hyderabad, the city police have requested citizens, particularly motorists, to be extra cautious while travelling, warning that wet roads, poor visibility and waterlogging can significantly increase the risk of accidents.
Police advised motorists to slow down and maintain a safe distance from vehicles ahead, as sudden braking on slippery roads can lead to collisions. Drivers have also been urged to ensure that headlights, tail lamps, indicators, windscreen wipers and brakes are in proper working condition before setting out during rainy weather.
For those travelling on highways and the Outer Ring Road (ORR), police recommended avoiding overspeeding even on stretches with light traffic, as water on the road surface can reduce tyre grip and increase the chances of skidding.
Motorists were advised to use headlights during heavy rain, avoid abrupt lane changes, stay away from the edge of the carriageway where water may accumulate and never stop under bridges or flyovers unless it is absolutely necessary.
Within the city, drivers have been asked to be alert near waterlogged roads, open manholes and ongoing civic works. Police also cautioned against attempting to drive through flooded stretches without knowing the water depth.
Two-wheeler riders have been urged to wear helmets and avoid sudden braking and sharp turns, and not ride through puddles at high speed.
Motorists were also advised not to use mobile phones while driving and to avoid distractions during adverse weather.
Meanwhile, pedestrians have been asked to cross roads only at designated crossings and remain vigilant at junctions.
