The Hyderabad Tiger Conservation Society and the Telangana Forest Department organised International Tiger Day 2026 at KBR National Park. More than 320 students participated in interactive activities and awareness sessions focused on tiger conservation, biodiversity protection and the importance of forests

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Tiger Conservation Society (HyTiCoS), in association with the Telangana Forest Department, organised International Tiger Day 2026 at KBR National Park on Wednesday to create awareness among students about tiger conservation and biodiversity protection.
Over 320 students from Nasr Boys School, Nasr Girls School, Sprouts, Future Kids and Sandeepam Vidyalaya participated in the programme, which was based on the global theme, “Securing the Future of Tigers with Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities at the Heart.”
The event featured 11 interactive activity sessions aimed at providing children with hands-on learning experiences about wildlife and forests. The activities included nature walks, tiger trails, nature bingo, camera trap demonstrations, scat and pellet identification, tiger face painting, storytelling, origami, clay modelling and community canvas painting.
An awareness session was held at the KBR auditorium, where students were briefed about India’s tiger population, the importance of forests and the role of conservation in maintaining ecological balance. The programme was supported by 25 volunteers and 10 HyTiCoS staff members.
