One Iranian citizen was martyred, and several others were injured after the United States carried out fresh unprovoked attacks targeting areas in the northwestern provinces of East and West Azarbaijan.
Majid Farshi, director-general of crisis management at the East Azarbaijan Governor-General’s Office, said a US strike targeted an area in the southwestern part of the provincial capital Tabriz at approximately 2:35 a.m. local time on Monday.
Farshi said a powerful explosion heard across the city was linked to the attack, adding that one civilian was martyred, while several others sustained injuries.
In neighboring West Azarbaijan Province, another pre-dawn US attack struck an area near the Silvana District of the provincial city of Urmia.
Hamed Saffari, director-general of crisis management for West Azarbaijan Province, said several people were injured in the strike. He added that emergency teams from the Iranian Red Crescent Society and Emergency Medical Services were immediately dispatched to the scene, where they provided initial treatment before transferring the wounded to nearby medical centers.
The United States has perpetrated numerous violations against Iranian territory since April 7, when US President Donald Trump announced a unilateral ceasefire in the latest bout of wholesale American-Israeli aggression targeting the Islamic Republic.
The violations continued even after Washington and Tehran signed a Pakistan-mediated memorandum of understanding last month, whose first clause clearly mandates cessation of aggression on all fronts.
In a statement on Saturday, Iran’s Health Ministry said at least 50 people had been martyred and more than 500 others injured in US attacks across the country since June 27.
Hossein Kermanpour, head of the ministry’s Public Relations Center, said the fatalities included five women and two children under the age of 18, while 32 women and 18 children were among the wounded. He added that 28 surgeries had been performed and 460 patients been discharged from hospitals, while 37 others remained under medical care.
