Hyderabad Ebola scare: Sudan traveller isolated at Gandhi Hospital after symptoms flagged

A passenger from Sudan exhibiting symptoms consistent with Ebola has been shifted to Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad after arriving at RGIA Shamshabad. Samples have been sent to NIV Pune for testing, while authorities have strengthened surveillance at entry points.

Hyderabad: A passenger from Sudan who arrived at RGIA Shamshabad on Thursday and displayed symptoms consistent with the Ebola virus, was shifted to Gandhi Hospital.

​Following the established emergency response plan, the passenger from Sudab was swiftly transferred to the isolation ward at Gandhi Hospital via a dedicated ambulance.


​Doctors have collected samples from the patient, which have been dispatched to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune for diagnostic testing. Officials are currently awaiting the lab results to confirm the diagnosis.

​In light of the ongoing Ebola situation in several African nations, the Telangana Medical and Health Department has strengthened surveillance across all entry points.

Gandhi Hospital has been officially designated as the nodal center for Ebola management in Telangana, with specialized isolation facilities and medical teams kept on standby to handle any potential cases.
