Medak: The Medak police cracked a major theft case reported at Cheelapally, nabbed two persons and recovered 929 grams of gold and 1.7 kg of silver ornaments from them.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Medak SP DV Srinivas Rao said the accused, Jadhav Jairam Nayak alias Jemla Nayak, had formed a team with his brother-in-law Rathod Ippu Singh. Jairam Nayak’s mother Jadhav Mali Bai and his sister Sanki Bai allegedly supported them by selling the stolen ornaments.

The bike-borne duo came to Cheelapally in Pedda Shankarampet mandal and identified a series of houses locked from outside on the night of May 14. They broke open five houses and decamped with 109 tolas of gold and two-and-a-half kg of silver ornaments.

The police, who launched an investigation, nabbed Jairam Nayak near Ramayampet. Later, they also took his 80-year-old mother into custody, while his brother-in-law and sister were absconding. The SP appreciated the Pedda Shankarampet police for cracking the case at an early stage.

Meanwhile, the SP said that 78 cases registered against Jairam Nayak were pending, while he had admitted his involvement in another 17 cases in Kamareddy and Medak districts.
