SCCL Srirampur Area creates 300 shades in Mancherial

Mancherial: Officials of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) Srirampur Area said measures were being taken to prevent inconvenience to coal miners due to the scorching heat wave conditions prevailing in the district.

Srirampur Chief General Manager M Srinivas said in a statement that 300 bamboo shades were erected to provide shelter to miners working in opencast projects and prevent a decline in coal output, as against 100 shades created in 2025. He stated that buttermilk and ORS sachets were also being distributed to the workers.

Besides, tin-roofed sheds were covered with nut grass and wet gunny bags to provide relief to miners from the sweltering heat wave conditions at work sites. Clay pots were arranged at the projects. Water was being sprayed on routes used by heavy vehicles. Steps were also being taken to shift miners to hospitals in case of health emergencies.

Officials noted that similar facilities were created in the coal major’s Mandamari, Goleti and Ramagundam-1, 2 and 3 Areas, offering relief to coal miners and helping avoid a dip in coal production. They claimed that coal output was not affected at the projects despite the districts reeling under severe heat wave conditions.
