Hyderabad: A 13-year-old girl died after allegedly falling into an open water sump at an apartment complex in Miyapur on Monday evening, amid allegations by her family regarding the circumstances of the incident.
The victim, identified as Sara, was the daughter of Charan and Renuka, a couple originally from Maddirala Thanda in Tekulapalli mandal of Bhadradri Kothagudem district.
According to the police, the family had been working as security personnel in apartment buildings in Miyapur for nearly a decade. Just eight days ago, Charan joined as a watchman at Sri Sai Residency, near Gokul Flats.
The incident occurred at around 8 pm when Sara was playing on the apartment premises and is believed to have accidentally fallen into a water sump that had been left open. When she went missing, her parents searched the surroundings and later found her unconscious inside the sump.
She was immediately shifted to a private hospital in Nizampet, where doctors declared her brought dead.
Based on information from the hospital, Miyapur police reached the spot and began an investigation. While police are treating it as a possible accidental death, they are also examining other angles after the girl’s parents expressed suspicion.
The victim’s father alleged that the apartment owner was refusing to show CCTV footage and was trying to tamper with evidence. He further accused the police of siding with the owner.
Police said the case was being investigated from all possible angles.
