Karimnagar: On the occasion of National Lipid Day, a free lipid health camp was organized at Dr D Raghuraman MD consulting clinic here on Sunday.
The camp was conducted in cooperation with Corona Remedies Limited, Ahmedabad, with the message “Check Your Cholesterol – Protect Your Heart”.
Out of 42 patients who underwent tests in the camp, 14 were found with high LDL (Bad Cholesterol) and 13 with high Triglycerides.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Raghuraman explained that high cholesterol levels could significantly increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, and blood vessel disorders.
Unhealthy food habits such as consuming oily foods, junk food, lack of physical activity, smoking, and stress were major contributing factors for high cholesterol, he said.
Highlighting the importance of lifestyle modification for maintaining heart health, he advised the people to walk or exercise for at least 30 minutes every day, take low-oil and healthy diet, increase intake of fruits and vegetables, avoid smoking and alcohol and undergo regular lipid profile checkups
Health awareness regarding cholesterol management and prevention of heart disease was provided to all participants during the camp.
