Telangana: Forest officials fly drone cameras, locate killer tiger in Asifabad

Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Officials of the Forest Department located the tiger which killed a woman in a cotton farm at Easgaon village in Kagaznagar mandal on Friday, by flying drone cameras in different areas around the spot on Saturday.

District Forest Officer Neeraj Kumar said that efforts were being made to track the tiger, which killed Morle Lakshmi (21) from Gannaram and was suspected to be moving in the forests and plains near the cotton farm. Accordingly, the officials flew drone cameras with the help of experts and volunteers from World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to trace the tiger. The cameras belonged to the forest department.

The forest officials said that the tiger was located near Areguda village, located around 10 kilometres from Easgaon. They stated steps were being taken to divert it into the deep forests and to prevent another human loss. They requested the villagers not to venture into agriculture fields till 10 am and complete farm activities by 4 pm. They advised the farmers to move in groups and to avoid sudden confrontation with tigers.

Residents of villages numbered 1, 3, 5, 8, 9 and 10 in Easgaon Gram panchayat, Nazrulnagar, Seethanagar, Anukoda, Gannaram, Kadamba, Areguda and Babanagar villages of Kagaznagar mandal were living in the grip of fear following the killing of the woman by the tiger. Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) or 163 of Bharatiya Nagarika Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) was already enforced in these villages in the wake of the incident and to prevent people from venturing out in unsafe circumstances.

Russia launches Kondor-FKA radar satellite into orbit

Equipped with advanced radar technology, the Kondor-FKA satellites enable all-weather, round-the-clock Earth observation, Xinhua reported.

“The second radar satellite Kondor-FKA has reached orbit! The launch systems worked as planned,” Russia’s space agency Roscosmos announced in a statement.

Unlike optical satellites, the Kondor-FKA series can penetrate cloud cover and operate in darkness, making them indispensable for a variety of tasks, including mapping, environmental monitoring, natural resource exploration, and guiding vessels through ice-covered routes, such as the Northern Sea Route during polar nights.

The Kondor series, developed by the NPO Mashinostroyeniya design bureau, has seen steady advancements since its inception. The first two satellites were launched in 2013 and 2014, while Kondor-FKA No. 1 entered orbit in 2023. Two more satellites are currently under construction, with the third Kondor-FKA launch planned for 2026.

Each Kondor-FKA satellite weighs approximately 1,050 kg and has a five-year operational lifespan.

Telangana High Court quashes multiple FIRs against Patnam Narender Reddy

Justice K. Lakshman of the Telangana High Court on Friday allowed the writ petition filed by former Kodangal MLA of the BRS, Patnam Narendar Reddy, quashing multiple FIRs registered against him by Bomraspet Police

Telangana High Court quashes multiple FIRs against Patnam Narender Reddy

By LEGAL CORRESPONDENT

Hyderabad: Justice K. Lakshman of the Telangana High Court on Friday allowed the writ petition filed by former Kodangal MLA of the BRS, Patnam Narendar Reddy, quashing multiple FIRs registered against him by Bomraspet Police.

The case centered on three FIRs filed in connection with the Lagacherla incident, which accused Reddy of conspiring in a series of incidents, including vehicle damage. The allegations in all three FIRs were notably similar, with the central charge being conspiracy. However, Justice Lakshman pointed out that there was no specific allegation that Reddy was physically present during the incidents or directly participated in the alleged attacks. The court emphasized that the only accusation against Reddy was involvement in a broader conspiracy.

Justice Lakshman highlighted a crucial legal principle, referencing prior rulings by both the Supreme Court and the Telangana High Court, which state that the registration of multiple FIRs for the same cause of action was impermissible. Even if the incidents were distinct, the court held that multiple FIRs arising from the same cause and involving the same parties would amount to an abuse of legal procedure. The judge further remarked that if FIRs were filed merely to “fill the lacunae” in the prosecution’s case, such actions would be deemed improper.

The court also scrutinized the circumstances under which the complaints were lodged. It was noted that the same police writer had prepared all three complaints. The complaints were signed by senior government officers, including the Sub Divisional Officer (SDO), Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO), and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), who were responsible for ensuring the accuracy and specificity of the complaints. Instead of independently preparing the complaints, these officers had signed the documents prepared by the Bomraspet Police Station writer.

Justice Lakshman expressed dissatisfaction with the explanation provided by the Additional Advocate General, T. Rajinikanth Reddy, who argued that the situation was tense following an attack on various officials, including the District Collector and Special Officer, which allegedly prevented the officers from drafting the complaints themselves. The judge pointed out that this explanation was unsatisfactory, noting that the high-ranking officials (Sub Divisional Police Officer, the MRO and Deputy Superintendent of Police) involved should have prepared their own complaints rather than relying on a police writer.

The judge also criticized the fact that the complaints were submitted at different times of the day (14:00, 15:00, and 16:00 hours) without any mention of the involvement of the police writer in preparing them, raising concerns about the intention to implicate Reddy in the three separate FIRs. In light of these observations, Justice Lakshman concluded that the FIRs, Cr.No.154 and Cr.No.155 of 2024, were based on the same set of facts as the initial FIR (Cr.No.153 of 2024), and thus, could not be maintained. As a result, the court quashed these FIRs and directed that the complaints and statements recorded in them be treated as part of the original FIR (Cr.No.153). The investigating officer was further granted the liberty to use the information from these complaints for continued investigation.

North Korea’s Kim vows ‘invariable support’ for Russia’s war in Ukraine

Slams US decision to let Ukraine strike targets inside Russia with US-supplied longer-range missiles

North Korea’s Kim vows ‘invariable support’ for Russia’s war in Ukraine

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov watch a performance to welcome Russian military delegation in Pyongyang.

Seoul: North Korean leader Kim Jong Un vowed his country will “invariably support” Russia’s war in Ukraine as he met Russia’s defence chief, the North’s state media reported Saturday.

A Russia military delegation led by Defence Minister Andrei Belousov arrived in North Korea on Friday, amid growing international concern about the two countries’ expanding cooperation after North Korea sent thousands of troops to Russia last month.

The official Korean Central News Agency said that Kim and Belousov reached “a satisfactory consensus” on boosting strategic partnership and defending each country’s sovereignty, security interests and international justice in the face of the rapidly-changing international security environments in a Friday meeting.

Kim said that North Korea “will invariably support the policy of the Russian Federation to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity from the imperialists’ moves for hegemony,” KCNA said.

North Korea has supported Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, calling it a defensive response to what both Moscow and Pyongyang call NATO’s “reckless” eastward advance and US-led moves to stamp out Russia’s position as a powerful state.

Kim slammed a US decision earlier in November to let Ukraine strike targets inside Russia with US-supplied longer-range missiles as a direct intervention in the conflict. He called recent Russian strikes on Ukraine “a timely and effective measure” demonstrate Russia’s resolve, KCNA said.

According to US, Ukrainian and South Korean assessments, North Korea has sent more than 10,000 troops to Russia and some of them have already begun engaging in combat on the frontlines. US, South Korean and others say North Korea has also shipped artillery systems, missiles and other conventional weapons to replenish Russia’s exhausted weapons inventory.

Both North Korea and Russia haven’t formally confirmed the North Korean troops’ movements, and have steadfastly denied reports of weapons shipments. South Korea, the US and their partners are concerned that Russia could give North Korea advanced weapons technology in return, including help to build more powerful nuclear missiles.
