New X users will need to pay for posting: Elon Musk

New Delhi: In a dampener for new X users, Elon Musk has announced they may be charged for posting content on the social platform.

In reply to an X user, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO said that unfortunately, “a small fee for new user write access is the only way to curb the relentless onslaught of bots.”

“Current AI (and troll farms) can pass ‘are you a bot’ with ease,” Musk posted.

He further said that the onslaught of fake accounts also uses up the available namespace, “so many good handles are taken as a result”.

“That is way harder than paying a tiny fee. This is only for new users. They will be able to do write actions for free after 3 months,” the billionaire elaborated.

In October last year, the platform began charging new unverified users $1 per year in New Zealand and the Philippines.

Earlier this month, Musk-led platform announced a mega purge of spam accounts.

Several X users lost followers as the social media platform kicked off the exercise to remove bots.

The action came as spam and porn bots swarmed the platform in the past few months, leaving users flummoxed.

Musk had announced that a system purge of bots and trolls was underway.

X has not shared about how many bots are currently there on the platform.

Smallest action against Iran to be met with severe response

President Raeisi made the remarks in a telephone conversation with the Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Monday night.

Touching upon the recent developments in the region, the Iranian president stressed the need to stop the Israeli regime’s crimes in the Gaza Strip.

The horrific crimes of the Zionists have continued with the full support of the US and some Western countries, while the oppressed and powerful people of Gaza are still victorious with their resistance, Raeisi underlined.

Referring to the terrorist attack carried out by the regime of Tel Aviv against Iran’s consulate in Damascus on April 1, Raeisi criticized the irresponsibility of the United Nations and the UN Security Council to fulfill their duty and condemn the Israeli aggression considering international law.

Due to the ineffectiveness of the international body in condemning the Israeli crime, the Islamic Republic of Iran, in line with exercising its right to self-defense based on Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, designed and executed an operation against the same centers that the Zionists attacked Iran’s diplomatic building, he added.

Reiterating the need for the Islamic countries to take deterrent measures against the continuation of the Zionist regime’s crimes in Gaza, Raeisi considered the blind support of some Western countries to the Zionist regime as a cause of tension in the region.

“As we have already officially announced, Operation True Promise was successfully carried out with the aim of punishing the aggressor. Now we firmly declare that the smallest action against Iran’s interests will definitely be met with a severe, extensive, and painful response against all its perpetrators,” the Iranian president emphasized.

The Qatari Emir, for his part, said that Iran and Qatar have supported each other in all situations.

Referring to his country’s efforts to condemn the Israeli aggression on Iran’s consulate in Damascus, he added, “Today, we are witnessing the highest level of global and popular convergence in support of the Palestinian cause, and the Zionist regime is trying to divert the world’s public opinion from its crimes in Gaza by making the situation tense.”

He praised the tact of the Islamic Republic of Iran in designing and implementing the response to the crime of the Zionist regime and considered it to contain a clear message for everyone.

In response to the Israeli terrorist attack on Iran’s consulate building in Syria on April 1, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps attacked targets in occupied Palestine with dozens of drones and missiles early on Sunday.

The Israeli regime attacked Iran’s consulate in the Syrian capital of Damascus on April 1. The Israeli aggression led to the destruction of the entire building and the martyrdom and injury of the entire people inside it.

Seven of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) military advisors were martyred following the Israeli attack on Iran’s consulate in Damascus.

Iran has right to retaliate as Israel attacked it consulate

Ahead of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi’s visit this month, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that “Pakistan is in a position to complete [gas] pipeline project with Iran, and makes decision regarding it”.

“We are constructing gas pipeline on our side from Gwadar to the Iranian border,” Asif said while speaking on Geo News’ Capital Talk programme on Monday.

Earlier this month, The News reported that Pakistan commenced the work to begin the construction of the 80km section of the Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline from Gwadar to a point where it can be connected with the Iranian section of the project.

Israel-Iran tensions amid war on Gaza

In the same talk show, the defence minister condemned the Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus that led to the killing of senior military officers.

Asif categorically said that Iran has the right to retaliate as Israel attacked the former’s consulate in open violation of international laws.

He added that Pakistan was also expecting a retaliation from Iran after the Israeli attack. He expressed his views that the attack on the Iranian consulate was result of supporting Palestinians. Asif said that Pakistan is firmly standing beside the Palestinians.

He feared that rising tensions in the Middle East might affect other countries including Pakistan. Asif added that the flames of war would also engulf those countries who are backing Israel.

“We do not want tensions to increase, however, genocide of Palestinians must be stopped,” urged Asif.

The sacrifices of the Palestinians will not go in vain and they will see independence soon, the defence minister said, clarifying that Pakistan was not facing any kind of pressure to recognise Israel.

"Whenever MI Lost, Pandya Had A Big Role To Play": Pathan's Strong Charge

Former allrounder Irfan Pathan on Monday questioned Hardik Pandya‘s leadership skills, saying his inability to adapt to match situations and failure to come up with a proper plan has cost Mumbai Indians dearly so far in this IPL. Hardik, who replaced Rohit Sharma as captain of MI this season, has received a lot of flak from fans and former players alike following the five-time champions’ dismal run so far.

“Hardik needs to manage MI really well. Whenever MI lost, Pandya had a big role to play,” Pathan said on Star Sports Pressroom.

“Even yesterday, Akash Madhwal didn’t bowl the last over, you need to give responsibility to him. When Shreyas Gopal got the wicket of Rachin Ravindra, why didn’t you give him another over? He only bowled one over… there was some slowness in the pitch and you need to adapt quickly, unfortunately, Pandya has not been able to adapt so far.”

Hardik had a phenomenal run under coach Ashish Nehra at Gujarat Titans in the last two years as he led the team to two finals and won the trophy in 2022.

Asked if GT coach Ashish Nehra’s effect does show, Pathan said: “… it was there, his effect is helping Shubman Gill too but do you think MI support staff is not helping him? They are trying to help, it is up to Hardik Pandya.

“He needs to make sure he has Plan A, Plan B. He needs to be aware of the situation. He is not a newbie, he has been playing for so many years. If he is not going to use his own experience and be smart about it, he will be found out and that is what is happening right now.”

I will be disappointed if Dube doesn’t go to the World Cup

Shivam Dube has been in rollicking form this season and Pathan said he will be disappointed if he is not picked for the T20 World Cup.

“Eventually there will be a time when Shivam Dube will put pressure on Pandya, the kind of hitting ability that Dube has, the way he has murdered the spinners, no one comes closer to him in Indian batting in the middle order, he is the best now,” he said.

“I will be highly disappointed if he doesn’t go to the World Cup. We have missed a guy like him, someone like Yuvraj Singh who can hit six sixes, he plays fearlessly from the word go. I haven’t seen anything like that.

“Yes, Hardik’s ability as a hitter has gone down and that is why a lot of people are talking about him. It might happen that both will take the flight to the World Cup but I am excited about Dube and what he can bring to the table.”

“Pick a gun left-arm pacer, a wrist spinner for T20 World Cup”

Talking about India’s bowling line-up in the World Cup, Pathan said selectors need to include a gun left-arm pacer and a wrist spinner.

“I want selectors to have an in-form bowling line-up, you will have (Jasprit) Bumrah, probably a left-arm spinner in Jadeja or Axar Patel, a good wrist spinner, who will be wicket-taker in the middle overs. Get a gun left-armer who is in form, which we missed so many years now. If Arshdeep Singh can bowl like he is doing but also keep an eye on Mohsin Khan.” There has been a lot of talk about Virat Kohli‘s low strike rate this IPL but Pathan also said the focus should not only be on strike rate but also average when it comes to picking a batter.

“Kohli’s strike rate is slightly better than Chris Gayle in international T20s, close to 138. Strike rates of Hardik Pandya, and Rohit Sharma is 139, we don’t talk about them.

“You need to make it strike-rate plus average, you can’t have the same yardstick for all players.”

“We’ve to think about the Impact rule going forward”

Pathan feels Indian cricket has to think about the impact rule in the long run.

“This rule is not that great for Indian cricket in the long term, see Venkatesh Iyer, Shivam Dube is not bowling, lots of all-rounders are not able to bowl. You want the youngsters to be part of the game,” he said.

“I am really worried about the allrounder, eventually going forward we will have to think about this aspect. Yes, impact rule is benefitting the entertainment part of cricket but Indian cricket has to think about it going forward as far as allrounders are concerned.”

US warned about consequences of repeated Israeli adventurism

The top diplomat made the remarks in a Monday phone call with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.

“We have clearly warned the White House that, in case of [fresh] adventurism by the Zionist regime in repeating terrorist aggression against Iran’s interests and security, Tehran’s subsequent response and action would be decisive, immediate, and extensive,” Amir-Abdollahian said.

On April 1, the Israeli regime committed a terrorist attack against Iran’s diplomatic premises in the Syrian capital Damascus.

The Israeli attack resulted in the martyrdom of Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), his deputy, General Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi, and five of their accompanying officers.

Retaliating against the attack, the IRGC targeted the occupied territories late on Saturday with a barrage of drones and missiles. The retaliatory attack, dubbed Operation True Promise, has inflicted damage on Israeli military bases across the occupied territories.

Following the reprisal, Iran both relayed the message that it viewed the matter as “concluded,” and also warned the US, the Israeli regime’s biggest ally, against trying to involve itself in the conflict.

For his part, the Chinese official said Beijing vehemently condemned the attack on the Iranian Embassy in Damascus, considering it to be in violation of international rules and principles.

Wang noted how his country had likewise supported the Islamic Republic’s just demands at the United Nations Security Council, despite double-standard practices on the part of the US and its Western allies, which saw them refusing to condemn the Israeli atrocity.

He said he had notified his American counterpart, Antony Blinken, about the Iran’s principled position concerning the recent developments.

“China and the Islamic Republic are strategic partners,” Wang added, saying, “Beijing always attaches great importance to Iran’s positions and standpoint.”

US Doctor Found Guilty Of Poisoning Patients By Injecting Drugs In IV Bags

US Doctor Found Guilty Of Poisoning Patients By Injecting Dangerous Drugs In IV Bags

Ortiz was reportedly wearing a mask and showed no emotion.

A Dallas anesthesiologist, Dr Raynaldo Ortiz, has been found guilty of injecting dangerous drugs into IV bags used during surgeries at Baylor Scott and White Surgicare. Prosecutors believe this was done in retaliation for a misconduct investigation.

Media reports say a jury convicted Ortiz on all 10 counts against him, including charges related to the death of Dr Melanie Kaspar, a fellow physician. Dr Kaspar died after using a contaminated IV bag at home.

Investigators believe Ortiz tampered with the IV bags by adding medications like nerve blockers and bronchodilators. These foreign substances caused cardiac emergencies in several patients, and tragically, Dr Kaspar’s death.

Surveillance footage reportedly captured Ortiz tampering with an IV bag shortly before a patient suffered a heart attack.  An autopsy confirmed Dr Kaspar’s death was caused by bupivacaine poisoning, a numbing agent typically used during surgery but rarely abused.

A Texas doctor who was dubbed a “medical terrorist,” was found guilty of injecting heart-stopping poison into IVs at his former medical clinic in North Dallas.

FOX 4 in Dallas reported that a 12-person jury found Dr. Raynaldo Ortiz guilty on all 10 counts after nearly seven hours of deliberation.

When the verdict was read, Ortiz was reportedly wearing a mask and showed no emotion.

As a result of Ortiz’s action, several patients suffered cardiac emergencies and Dr. Melanie Kaspar died after using one of the IV bags, prosecutors said.

“There’s no closure. My best friend is gone,” John Kaspar, Dr. Melanie Kaspar’s widower reportedly said shortly after the verdict. “I don’t think he ever looked me in the eye… It’s almost like you have so many emotions you can’t sift them out. You get flooded.”

Fox News reported that the witnesses called to the stand during the trial included the anesthesiologist who discovered the bags were tainted, John Kaspar, and a teen who suffered cardiac arrest during nose surgery.

It all started two days after Ortiz was notified of a disciplinary inquiry against him over his handling of a medical emergency. Ortiz told other doctors that the centre was trying to ‘crucify’ him.

Fox News reported that 13 patients between May and August 2022 experienced similar cardiac emergencies, though prosecutors only charged the doctor with causing bodily injury to four of the patients in August.

Ortiz was convicted of four counts of tampering with a consumer who experienced similar cardiac emergencies, though prosecutors only charged the doctor with causing bodily injury to four of the patients in August.

Ortiz is expected to be sentenced in two to three months. He faces up to life in prison, the media outlet reported.
