US Man Allegedly Beheads Father And Shows Off His Head On YouTube Video

US Man, 33, Arrested After Allegedly Beheading Father And Showing His Head On YouTube

Justin Mohn is now charged with murder.

A 32-year-old man in the United States accused of beheading his father – and posting a gruesome video seemingly showing him holding up the head amid a politically charged rant – was arrested on Tuesday. According to CNN, the video circulated for hours on YouTube before it was taken down. Justin Mohn was taken into custody hours after allegedly beheading his 68-year-old father Michael Mohn at their home in Pennsylvania. The 33-year-old is being held without bond, charged with first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse and possessing an instrument of crime with intent.

According to CNN, police responded to the scene after receiving a “call of a deceased male”. Justin Mohn’s mother, Denice, called 911 after finding her husband’s headless body in their home. She reportedly said that she was last in the house at 2 pm and when she returned, she noticed her son and her husband’s 2009 Toyota Corolla was nowhere to be found.

“The call to emergency dispatchers came from the victim’s wife. When officers arrived, they located the male deceased in the bathroom,” the prosecutor’s office said in a statement. “The victim’s adult son was not present when police arrived and left the area in his father’s vehicle,” the statement added.

Cops found a machete and a large kitchen knife in the bathtub. They located Michael Mohn’s head inside a plastic bag which was inside a cooking pot in a first-floor bedroom next to the bathroom. Officers also found “bloody rubber gloves” in both a separate first-floor bedroom and in a trashcan beside a desk.

In the affidavit, police cite a video posted on video YouTube by the 32-year-old. In the clip, the man identifies himself as Justin Mohn and apparently reads from a written statement and at one point holds up what appears to be a bloodied head inside a clear plastic bag.

In the clip, he says his father, who was a federal employee for over 20 years, was a traitor to his country. “America is rotting from the inside out as far left, woke mobs rampage out once prosperous cities,” he says in the now-deleted video.

According to The Independent, the 32-year-old bashed US President Joe Biden, the Black Lives Matter Movement and the LGBTQ community in the video. He also urged Americans to attack federal workers, journalists and federal law enforcement.

A YouTube spokesperson said it has strict policies prohibiting graphic violence and violent extremism”. “The video was removed for violating our graphic violence policy and Justin Mohn’s channel was terminated in line with our violent extremism policies. Our teams are closely tracking to remove any re-uploads of the video,” they said.

The 32-year-old was found “hours later” in Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania – more than 100 miles from his home – and taken into custody. “He was armed at the time but did not resist arrest,” cops said. He was arraigned early Wednesday via video. A judge ordered him held without bond. His next hearing is set for February 8.

IDF will stay in Gaza, hostage deal not at any cost: Netanyahu

Tel Aviv: Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that Israel will not end the ongoing war with Hamas and that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) would stay in Gaza. Netanyahu on Wednesday night ruled out speculations that Israel would end the war. Speaking to mediapersons, he said that speculations were rife in the media that Israel would end the war in Gaza but added that it was “untrue” and “Israel’s plan of elimination of Hamas” and “making Gaza a place which will not be a threat to Israel would continue”.

Commenting on the ongoing mediatory talks by Qatar, Egypt and the US regarding the release of Israeli hostages in Hamas’s custody, Netanyahu said that the hostage deal was being worked out. He, however, said that Israel would not go for a total stoppage of war and added, “We are working on another outline for the release of hostages and that won’t be at any cost.” It may be noted that active mediatory talks are being held at various places between Qatar, Egypt and the US for the release of Israeli hostages.

A month-long ceasefire is on the cards and according to sources in the Israel Defence Ministry, hostages will be released in steps with the elderly, sick and women hostages to be released at first. In the second step, women IDF soldiers in captivity will be released and in the last stage, all the hostages, including male soldiers, would be released. While Hamas is insisting on a total stoppage of war, Israel has, according to sources, categorically rejected that.

Bengaluru: A youth has been arrested here for allegedly spanking a woman at a hotel, the police said on Wednesday, adding the man was prompted to carry out the objectionable act by his friends over a bet.

The youth, identified as Chandan, told the police during questioning that he was challenged to spank a young woman at a hotel where he had visited along with his friends. The police said that incident happened on December 30 last year. The accused works as a gas cylinder delivery boy.

The incident happened at Nammoota Hotel in the Vijayanagar locality of Bengaluru at around 7.30 p.m. on December 30, 2023. A complaint was filed by a female employee of the hotel who saw the accused spanking the woman who was standing near the cash counter while his friends allegedly watched and laughed.

The police registered an FIR in this connection on January 10. After being spanked, the woman “strongly objected” to Chandan’s act and confronted him, following which others also gathered.

However, the accused claimed he was “innocent” and got into an argument along with his friends. The police during the investigation learned that the accused had formed a group that targetted young girls and women who visited hotels.

They allegedly made a habit of touching them inappropriately, with one of the accused performing the act while others watched. In case of any trouble, the three would re-group and escape.

CCTV footage related to the incident accessed by the police shows the three accused individuals arriving at the hotel, and “planning” the indecent act. One of the youths spanks the young woman while his two other friends “closely watch and enjoy the act”.

The woman can be seen strongly objecting to the act following which others present in the hotel question the accused individuals. On sensing trouble, the three youths eventually fled the hotel. The police have launched a hunt to trace the other two accused.

Facebook Chief Accused Of Having "Blood On His Hands", His Apology

Ahead of their testimony, Meta and X announced new measures.

Washington:

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and the chief executives of TikTok, X, Discord and Snap faced a grilling by hostile US lawmakers on Wednesday over the dangers that children and teens face on social media platforms.

The tech chiefs were convened by the US Senate Judiciary Committee where they were put to task about the effects of social media in a session titled “Big Tech and the Online Child Sexual Exploitation Crisis.”

The executives are confronting a torrent of political anger for not doing enough to thwart online dangers for children, including from sexual predators and teen suicide.

During one round of particularly heated questioning, Zuckerberg was made to stand up and apologize to the families of victims who had packed the committee room.

“Mister Zuckerberg, you and the companies before us, I know you don’t mean it to be so, but you have blood on your hands. You have a product that’s killing people,” Senator Lindsey Graham told the chief executives.

Testifying to senators were Zuckerberg, X’s Linda Yaccarino, Shou Zi Chew of TikTok, Evan Spiegel of Snap and Discord’s Jason Citron.

“We work hard to provide parents and teens support and controls to reduce potential harms,” Meta’s Zuckerberg told the committee in his opening statement.

“Keeping young people safe online has been a challenge since the internet began and as criminals evolve their tactics, we have to evolve our defenses too,” he added.

Zuckerberg also told the lawmakers that according to research, “on balance” social media was not harmful to the mental health of young people.

TikTok’s Chew said “as a father of three young children myself I know that the issues that we’re discussing today are horrific and the nightmare of every parent.”

“I intend to invest more than $2 billion in trust and safety. This year alone, we have 40,000 safety professionals working on this topic,” Chew said.

Meta also said 40,000 of its employees work on online safety and that $20 billion has been invested since 2016 to make the platform safer.

Ahead of their testimony, Meta and X, formerly Twitter, announced new measures in anticipation of the heated session.

Meta, which owns the world’s leading platforms Facebook and Instagram, said it would block direct messages sent to young teens by strangers.

By default, teens under age 16 can now only be messaged or added to group chats by people they already follow or are connected to.

Meta also tightened content restrictions for teens on Instagram and Facebook making it harder for them to view posts that discuss suicide, self-harm or eating disorders.

Multi-state lawsuit

Singling out Meta, senators pointed to internal company documents that show that Zuckerberg declined to strengthen the teams devoted to tracking online dangers to teens.

“The hypocrisy is mind-boggling,” Senator Richard Blumenthal told the New York Times.

Those documents are part of a major lawsuit brought by about 40 states jointly suing Meta over alleged failures with children.

Under US law, web platforms are largely shielded from legal liability in relation to content that is shared on their site.

While lawmakers would like to set up more rules to increase online safety, new laws have been stymied by a politically divided Washington and intense lobbying by big tech.

One existing proposal is the Kids Online Safety Act, or KOSA, which aims to protect children from algorithms that might trigger anxiety or depression.

Another idea would require social media platforms to verify the age of account holders and completely bar children under the age of 13.

“I don’t think you’re gonna solve the problem. Congress is gonna have to help you,” Senator John Neely Kennedy told the executives.

Naxalite Deva suspected to have led attack on security forces in Sukma: Police

Raipur: Naxalite Deva who was recently made the commander of `battalion no.1′, the strongest military formation of the outlaws in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region, was possibly leading the group that attacked security personnel in Sukma district two days ago, police said. Three CRPF personnel, including two belonging to its specialised jungle warfare unit CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action), were killed and 15 others injured in the encounter near Tekalgudem village on Tuesday. Asked whether Naxal leader Hidma was present during the attack, Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) Sundarraj P said it did not seem possible.

“There is least chance of presence of Hidma, but Deva was possibly present there,” he told PTI. Deva recently replaced Hidma as commander of the Naxalites’ battalion no.1, the IG added. As per police sources, the so-called Peoples’ Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) battalion no. 1 has played a role in several deadly attacks in south Bastar in the past. Naxal documents recovered after recent encounters revealed that Hidma was elevated to the central committee of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) and Deva alias Barse Sukka, who was the secretary of Darbha division committee, was made the commander of battalion no.1. Both Hidma and Deva belong to the same village, Puvrati, located along the Sukma-Bijapur border, police sources said. Puvrati is 6-7 km away from Tekalgudem where the encounter took place on Tuesday. Security forces have set up a new camp in Tekalgudem, a Naxal stronghold. In the last two months, 12 new camps of security personnel have been set up in core areas of Naxalites in Sukma and Bijapur districts (six camps in each district), said IG Sundarraj. “In a way we have entered the area which is called the base of PLGA battalion no. 1. Tough resistance from Naxalites was expected and we were fully prepared. Unfortunately we lost our three men, but our jawans fought courageously and gave them a befitting reply,” he said.

“As per preliminary information, in this encounter that lasted for about four hours, at least 7-8 Naxalites were killed and 15-16 Naxalites were seriously injured. The morale of our jawans is high and operations will be continued with more intensity in the area,” the official said.

Chhattisgarh Director General of Police Ashok Juneja, Additional Director General CRPF (Central Zone) Amit Kumar, state’s Additional Director General of Police (anti-Naxal Operations) Vivekananda Sinha, IG Sundarraj P, IG CRPF Saket Kumar and other senior police officials on Wednesday visited Tekalgudem camp and met the jawans, a police statement said. The Bastar police and central security forces were determined to free the people of the region from the Naxal menace and ensure peace, security and development, Juneja was quoted as saying.

Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar and his daughter Suranya Aiyar have received a notice to vacate their home in Delhi’s Jangpura over a social media post condemning the Ayodhya Ram Temple consecration ceremony on January 22. The notice, sent by the Resident’s Welfare Association (RWA) urges them to not indulge in rants which may disturb peace of hurt the religious sentiments of other residents.

“We do not appreciate a resident rant which may disturb the peace in the colony or hurt religious sentiments of the residents,” the notice read.

“You might take the cover of freedom of speech but please remember as per Supreme Court of India freedom of speech cannot be absolute,” it added.

Mr Aiyar has been urged to condemn his daughter’s post or leave the house.

The association urged the Aiyars to not provoke people and create hatred and mistrust among citizens.

“You may do whatever in politics for the good of your country, but please remember whatever you say and your actions count thus bringing good or bad name to the colony. Therefore, you are requested to please refrain from making such posts/comments,” the notice said.

"I Do Not Wish…": Indian Chess Player Divya Deshmukh On 'Sexism' Row

Indian chess player Divya Deshmukh took to social media to share her thoughts regarding the ‘sexism’ controversy at the recently-concluded Tata Steel Masters in Wijk Aan Zee, Netherlands. Earlier, Divya alleged that she had to endure sexist behaviour from spectators at the competition and added that they “focused on irrelevant things like her hair, clothes and accent” during the tournament. In her latest Instagram story, Divya wrote – “I would like to add one last clarification because what i have said is being spun to huge levels, I would not like to be associated with promoting the word “sexism” in my case, I do not wish to be the face of it but to be an ambassador for women’s chess and especially young girls and juniors who, like me are aspiring to be top chess players. The only motive has been to ensure a better environment for women chess players and to bring awareness.”

The 18-year-old International Master from Nagpur, who won the Asian women’s chess championship last year, shared a lengthy social media post on Tuesday calling out the misogyny that women players face routinely while elaborating on her unpleasant experience in Wijk Aan Zee.

“I have been wanting to address this for a while but was waiting for my tournament to be over. I got told and also myself noticed how women in chess are often just taken for granted by spectators,” Deshmukh said.

“Most recent example of this on a personal level would be in this tournament, I played a few games which I felt were quite good and I was proud of them.”

“I got told by people how the audience was not even bothered with the game but instead focused on every single possible thing in the world: my clothes, hair, accent and every other irrelevant thing,” she wrote in an Instagram post on Sunday.

Deshmukh finished 12th in the Challengers section with a score of 4.5 at the Tata Steel Masters.

The teenager said while male players were getting their share of spotlight purely for their game, the women were judged for aspects which had nothing to do with their ability on the chess board.

“I was quite upset to hear this and I think is the sad truth that people when women play chess they often overlook how good they actually are, the games they play and their strength,” she said.

“I was quite disappointed to see how everything was discussed about in my interviews (by the audience) except my games, very few people paid attention to it and it is quite a sad thing.”

“I felt it was unfair in a way because if I go to any guy’s interview there would be way less judgement on a personal level, actual compliments about the game and the player,” she asserted.

Bushra Bibi has been moved to Bani Gala, the Islamabad residence of her husband Imran Khan

Islamabad:

Bushra Bibi, who was sentenced to 14 years in the Toshakhana reference case, has been moved to Bani Gala, the Islamabad residence of her husband Imran Khan, designated as a sub-jail, ARY News reported.

The former first lady surrendered voluntarily before the accountability court in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, where the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) team took her into custody. The Islamabad Chief Commissioner issued a notification declaring the residence of convict Bushra Bibi in Bani Gala as a sub-jail until further orders.

“The Chief Commissioner, Islamabad Capital Territory is pleased to declare the residence of convict Bushra Bibi (Residential Compound, Khan House Banigala, Mohra Noor, Islamabad) as Sub-Jail till further orders,” stated the notification.

Stringent security measures are in place, with jail staff stationed inside Bani Gala, while Islamabad Police personnel will remain outside Imran Khan’s residence, ARY News reported, citing sources.

Imran Khan and his wife were handed a 14-year jail sentence by an accountability court in the Toshakhana case.

The court not only imposed rigorous imprisonment but also disqualified Khan from holding any public office for the next 10 years. The couple was fined PKR 1.573 billion as part of the judgement.

The Toshakhana case became a major point of contention in national politics after the Election Commission of Pakistan disqualified the PTI chief for making “false statements and incorrect declarations” last year, ARY News reported.
