Taking to his official Instagram handle, Vikas debunked all the rumours floating on the internet regarding their mother’s health. He also asked everyone not to spread such news without any “proper information”.

New Delhi: Star India batter Virat Kohli’s brother Vikas Kohli on Wednesday opened up on the fake news about their mother Saroj Kohli’s health and said that “she is absolutely fit and fine”.
Taking to his official Instagram handle, Vikas debunked all the rumours floating on the internet regarding their mother’s health. He also asked everyone not to spread such news without any “proper information”.
“Hello everyone, I have noticed that there is this fake news about our mom’s health has been circulating around. Let me clear that our mom is absolutely fit and fine. Also, I would request everyone and also the media, not to spread such news without proper information,” Vikas wrote on Instagram.
Recently, there have been rumours saying that the former India skipper asked for a break from the first two Test matches against England in the five-game series due to his mother’s illness.
Meanwhile, Kohli has withdrawn from the first two Tests against England due to personal reasons, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced.
The BCCI also requested the media and fans to respect Kohli’s privacy during this time and refrain from speculating on the nature of his personal reasons. Without Kohli, India conceded a 28-run loss against England in the first Test match in Hyderabad on Sunday.
Recapping the first Test match, India will be keen for redemption after going 1-0 down in the series. The hosts were in complete control of the Test and dominated the visitors. But on Day 3, Ollie Pope stepped onto the crease and changed the entire complexion of the game with his reverse sweeps.
He not only brushed off India’s 190-run lead but went on to hand England a target that could be defended on a tricky surface with his knock of 196.
Debutant Tom Hartley introduced himself and spun India’s batters out with his spell of 7/62. He ended the Test with 9/193 which is the best figure for an England spinner on Test debut since 1945.
His nine wickets tally in the first Test in a match is the joint-most since former English spinner Robert Berry’s 9/116 against West Indies in Manchester in 1950. Hartley also became just the fourth England spinner to claim a five-wicket haul on Test debut in this century.
Mamata Banerjee is in north Bengal, at the time as Rahul Gandhi’s yatra passes through
Malda (West Bengal):
In remarks that indicated that the INDIA bloc’s troubles in Bengal are far from over, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee today said the Congress must part ways with the CPM if they want any tie-up with her party.
The Bengal Chief Minister also said that the Congress had rejected the Trinamool’s offer for two seats during seat-sharing negotiations and now she “won’t give a single seat”.
The CPM has physically attacked me on several occasions in the past. I was mercilessly beaten up. I am alive only because of the blessings of my well-wishers. I can never forgive the Left, I can never forgive the CPM. So those who are with CPM today, they can also be with the BJP. I won’t forgive them,” she told a gathering in Malda.
Incidentally, her remarks came on a day when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra re-entered Bengal after its Bihar leg.
“I told congress you don’t have a single MLA in the assembly. We will give you two parliamentary seats and we will make sure your candidate wins. But they want more seats, so I told them I won’t give you a single seat until u leave the company of the Left,” she said.
The CPM has earlier ruled out an alliance with the Trinamool. Back in June, CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury had said, “Mamata Banerjee and the CPM will not happen. There will be secular parties along with the Left and the Congress in Bengal which will fight against the BJP and the TMC,” he had said.
Seat-sharing talks between the Trinamool and Congress hit a roadblock a week back when Ms Banerjee announced that her party will contest the Lok Sabha polls alone and any decision on an alliance will be taken after the election.
The Trinamool blamed Congress’s hard bargaining and strong remarks by its state chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury for Ms Banerjee for the situation. Mr Chowdhury had argued that the two seats being offered to the Congress were the party’s strongholds anyway, and said the Congress is equipped to win elections on its own. In a personal attack on the Trinamool supremo, he had called her an “opportunist” leader.
Following Ms Banerjee’s outburst, the Congress leadership swiftly moved into damage control and said it cannot imagine an INDIA bloc without Mamata Banerjee. The Trinamool chief’s remarks today suggest that the issue is nowhere close to being sorted.
Trinamool is just one among the regional forces locked in a tug-of-war with the Congress over seat-sharing. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has said they are preparing to contest all 13 Lok Sabha seats in the state. In Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has announced 16 candidates amid seat-sharing talks. Mr Yadav has stressed that he is doing what is best for the party and a clearance from Congress is not needed.
The exit of the Nitish Kumar-led JDU from INDIA bloc and its allegation that the Congress is trying to hijack the alliance has only pushed the grand old party into a corner as it preps for the big fight against the BJP.
Nalgonda municipality has prepared a plan with Rs 1.74 crore to tackle drinking water scarcity in the town in the coming summer season.

Nalgonda: Nalgonda municipality has prepared a plan with Rs 1.74 crore to tackle drinking water scarcity in the town in the coming Summer season. The water level in Nagarjuna Sagar Project (NSP) reaching dead storage level and the fall in ground water levels are likely to have a severe impact on the drinking water supply in Nalgonda town, which has 2,25,076 population.
Low water level in reservoirs, the drinking water supply sources has left officials on tenterhooks as it will be extremely difficult to manage drinking water needs during summer.
Presently, drinking water was being drawing from Udhaya Samudram, which would be filled with Krishna water through SLBC canal. The officials were expecting that serious drinking water problem could arise after three or four months in the town. The water level in NSP fell to 520 feet as against full storage level of 590 feet and current water storage in the project was 149 tmcs (48%) as against cross storage capacity of 312 tmcs.
There were 38,985 water tap connections in Nalgonda town. In addition this, 270 bore wells also available to draw water for supplying to the people. Presently, 30.38 MLD of water being supplying to 38,985 water taps every day. Officials say demand for drinking water would imminently increase in summer. The municipality focused on plugging the leakages on pipelines to avoid water wastage.
To avoid drinking water problem, 10 private water tankers would be hired for the summer at a cost of Rs 25 lakh. In addition to this, Rs 9 lakh were sanctioned for repairing the bore wells, he added.
The chief commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has warned that Iran “will not leave any threat unanswered” as the United States seeks to escalate tensions in West Asia already inflamed by Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.
Major General Hossein Salami made the remarks on Wednesday, after US President Joe Biden said he had decided how to respond to a deadly attack on a US occupation base, for which he held Tehran responsible.
“Sometimes, the enemies make threats. And these days too, we hear some threats in the US officials’ rhetoric,” he said at the final session of the national congress of 24,000 martyrs of Tehran Province.
“We tell them (the Americans) that you have tested us and we know each other. We will not leave any threat unanswered.”
The IRGC chief stressed that, “We are not seeking war, yet are not afraid of it either.”
The warning echoed that of Iran’s permanent mission to the UN, which said Tehran would “respond decisively” to any attack on its territory, interests, and nationals.
Tensions have ratcheted up in West Asia due to the United States’ support for Israel in the brutal Gaza war, which has killed at least 26,900 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured 65,949 others over the past more than three months.
On Sunday, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an umbrella group of anti-terror fighters, carried out a drone strike on a military outpost in Jordan, known as Tower 22, killing three US soldiers and injuring dozens.
US President Joe Biden pinned the blame on what he called “radical Iran-backed militant groups” and vowed Washington would respond.
Iran said it has no links to the attacks on American occupation troops in the region as they are related to the conflict between resistance groups and the US military.
Salami also said, “Palestine is on a path to victory. The Zionists cannot keep a small territory in a war for months and they will definitely lose.”
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate on Friday for questioning in connection with the liquor excise policy case. This is the fifth summon sent to Arvind Kejriwal; he was first summoned on November 2, followed by December 21, January 3, and January 13.
Should he not appear as summoned, the probe agency can move the court for an arrest warrant.
The Aam Aadmi Party boss had skipped the first four calls citing various prior commitments, including a 10-day meditation retreat, and allegations the agency’s calls were “illegal” and designed to arrest him less than three months before a general election. Last month, after the third summons, he slammed the agency’s actions as “politically motivated” and “illegal”.
He skipped the first summons because he was campaigning for the Madhya Pradesh election.
Earlier this month, after getting his fourth call, Mr Kejriwal and the AAP asked the ED why the Chief Minister had been called if he has not, so far, been named as an accused in the case. “This is being done to stop him from campaigning for the Lok Sabha polls. ED has said Kejriwal is not an accused… then why were summons issued to him,” the AAP had said.

Mr Kejriwal was earlier questioned in this case – for nine hours – by the Central Bureau of Investigation; this was in April last year. He had not, however, been made an accused in the case. “CBI asked me total of 56 questions. Everything is fake. Case is fake. I am convinced they don’t have anything on us, not a single piece of evidence,” he said then.
Two senior members of his government, including his ex-deputy, Manish Sisodia have been arrested so far. Mr Sisodia was arrested in February last year and party MP Sanjay Singh in October. Both are currently in Delhi’s Tihar Jail.
On Sunday Mr Sisodia moved the court seeking regular bail and time to meet his ailing wife every week.
The Delhi liquor case refers to allegations the AAP government’s revamped alcohol sales policy of 2022 allowed it to receive crores in kickbacks from cartels, and that this money was channelled into funding election expenses in Goa and other states.
Specifically, both the ED and the CBI have alleged the policy allowed cartelisation and favoured certain dealers, who paid bribes for liquor sale licenses.

The AAP has strongly refuted all charges. The Delhi government reported a 27 per cent increase in income from the policy and generated Rs 8,900 crore in revenue. The party has also accused rivals Bharatiya Janata Party – in power at the centre – of manipulating the central agency to target it.
