Israel Minister Calls For Return Of Jewish Settlers To Gaza After War Is Over

Israel Minister Calls For Return Of Jewish Settlers To Gaza After War Is Over

“To have security we must control the territory,” Bezalel Smotrich said (File)

Jerusalem, Undefined:

Far-right Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich on Sunday called for the return of Jewish settlers to the Gaza Strip after the war and said its Palestinian population should be encouraged to emigrate.

Israel launched a relentless military campaign against Hamas in Gaza after the Palestinian operatives carried out an unprecedented attack on Israel on October 7.

“To have security we must control the territory,” Smotrich told Israel’s Army Radio in response to a question about the prospect of re-establishing settlements in Gaza.

“In order to control the territory militarily for a long time, we need a civilian presence.”

The Israeli government under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not officially suggested plans to evict Gazans or to send Jewish settlers back to the territory since the war broke out on October 7.

Israel unilaterally withdrew the last of its troops and settlers in 2005, ending a presence inside Gaza that began in 1967 but maintaining near complete control over the territory’s borders.

All settlements on occupied Palestinian land are regarded as illegal under international law, regardless of whether they were approved by Israel.

Smotrich, head of the ultranationalist Religious Zionism party that is part of the ruling coalition, also said Israel should “encourage” the territory’s approximately 2.4 million Palestinians to relocate to other countries.

“If we act in a strategically correct way and encourage emigration, if there are 100,000 or 200,000 Arabs in Gaza and not two million, the whole discourse of the day after (the war) will be completely different,” he said.

“We will help rehabilitate these refugees in other countries in a good and humane manner with the cooperation of the international community and Arab countries around us.”

Despite its withdrawal in 2005, Israel imposed a land, sea and air blockade on the territory and is still regarded internationally as an occupying power in the Gaza Strip.

The October 7 Hamas attack left about 1,140 people dead, mostly civilians, according to an AFP tally based on Israeli figures.

Israel’s ongoing Gaza offensive has killed more than 21,800 people, mostly women and children, according to the health ministry in Hamas-ruled Gaza.

As heavy combat rages on, 85 percent of people in Gaza have been displaced, according to the United Nations.

Gen. Soleimani School based on Palestine cause

“Defending Palestine brings about dignity,” responded Martyr Soleimani in response to Abu Khaled commander of the Lebanese branch of Hamas’s military wing in 2019.

From the viewpoint of the former commander of the Quds Force, the issue of supporting Palestinian groups was not only in line with Iran’s national interests; Rather, it was viewed as a religious obligation.

The Islamic Republic made decisions to help fight against terrorism in Iraq and Syria in a bid to revive the Palestinian cause in the region.

That is why many analysts and strategists consider the free Palestine the backbone of Martyr Soleimani’s teachings and School.

Axis of Resistance vs Axis of evil

After the all-out aggression of Bush Jr.’s war machine in Afghanistan and Iraq, many military commanders were talking about the possibility of a military conflict between Tehran and Washington.

The then-president of the United States called Tehran a part of the “axis of evil” and tried to mispresent Iran as a threat to world peace. At that time, one of the initiatives of Qassem Soleimani and his comrades was to use the capacity of the Muslims in the region to create an axis of resistance against the American coalition and the Zionist regime.

In this Palestinian strategy, the “arrowhead” of resistance against Western colonialism was located in the Levant region. In other words, all resistance groups should always pat attention to the ongoing developments in occupied Palestine and rush to the aid of the resistance forces in the West Bank and Gaza Strip during a crisis.

Soleimani, directly and indirectly, observed the battle scene many times during the battle between the resistance forces and the Zionist regime and provided advisory assistance.

Ahmed Abd al-Hadi, Hamas’s representative in Lebanon has repeatedly reported the presence of Gen. Soleimani in the Gaza Strip.

Iran’s top commander had a colossal role to play in shaping the defense structure of Gaza.

If Israel’s war machine is stuck today during the ground battle with Hamas, it was because of the thinking and defense strategies of this commander to protect the Palestinian land against the Zionist enemy.

Osama Hamdan, a member of the Islamic Jihad movement, also pointed to the role of Martyr Soleimani in the 22-day war and spoke of his constant companionship with the resistance forces and their guidance on the battlefield.

Equipping Resistance Force in Gaza

After declaring the existence of the Zionist regime on the eastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea, the Zionists were always victorious in classic battles against the Arab armies.

However, after Sharon’s withdrawal from the Gaza Strip in 2005 and the rise of the Islamic resistance movement Hamas and Islamic Jihad in this Palestinian region, the military-security equation changed in favor of the resistance axis.

Regarding the role of Martyr’s Soleimani in the Palestinian cause, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has said that “this man empowered the Palestinians. He did something to help a small region like the Gaza Strip stand up to the Zionist regime despite all their pretensions. They (the people of Gaza) brought such adversity upon them (the Zionists) that they asked for a ceasefire after just 48 hours! This was done by Hajj Qasem Soleimani.”

When Hamas forces are equipped with drones

During the last two decades, one of the most important components of the resistance power has been the arming of Palestinian groups with various deterrent weapons against the Zionist regime. During the Al-Aqsa Storm Operation, the resistance groups fired more than 4,000 rockets towards the occupied territories in 80 days.

Currently, Hamas and Islamic Jihad are equipped with Qasef, Ababil and Shahab class drones. In 2018, Nasser Abu Sharif, the representative of Islamic Jihad, announced during his trip to Tehran that under the leadership of Martyr Soleimani, many Hamas and Islamic Jihad forces were trained by the Quds Force of the IRGC to produce and assemble all types of missiles.

This strategic assistance has given the possibility for the Palestinian fighters to produce the defense weapons they need in this area locally and enter the implementation phase.

The liberation of Quds crucial point in the reappearance of Imam Mahdi

Refraining from various political factions and groups is underlined at the school of Martyr Soleimani.

In the Soleimani School, the recapture of the Al-Aqsa Mosque from the hands of the Zionists is defined as the foundation for the reappearance of Imam Mahdi.

Martyr Soleimani’s efforts in unifying battlefields

The followers of the Islamic Republic and Imam Khomeini School believe that supporting the oppressed people and fighting the arrogant powers are in line with Imam Mahdi’s ruling.

The formation of the “Unity of the Fields” strategy and the coordinated actions of the resistance forces against the interests of The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) and the Zionist regime from the north of the Indian Ocean to the south of Lebanon shows the continuation of the strategy of Martyr Soleimani towards the Quds issue by his comrades.

In the foreign policy doctrine of the Islamic Republic of Iran, defending the Palestinian issue is mentioned as a definite and unchangeable principle.

As per paragraphs 5 and 16 of article 3 as well as articles 11 and 152 of Iran’s constitution, the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic must be in accordance with brotherly commitment to all Muslims and advocating all oppressed people in the world.

Soleimani, as the commander of the Quds Force, was tasked with implementing the constitution, the law to support the Islamic Revolution of the Palestinians, and the Supreme Leader of the Revolution’s orders on the many fronts of the battle against the Zionist enemy.

His continuous efforts to equip the Palestinian groups with all kinds of deterrent weapons against the Zionist enemy caused Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, to call him the martyr of Quds during the burial ceremony of the great martyr.

Hyderabad: Paddy procurement in Telangana is likely to fall short of the ambitious target of one crore tonnes for the Vanakalam (Kharif) season, with around 44 lakh tonnes procured as on Saturday.

Due to the recent Assembly elections, the paddy procurement is learnt to have slowed down slightly with millers capitalising on the situation and securing most of the crop directly from farmers.

Paddy cultivation has been undertaken across approximately 65 lakh acres in Telangana during the ongoing Kharif season, resulting in an estimated production of around 1.45 crore tonnes. The State government had set an ambitious target of one crore tonnes for paddy procurement. However, the paddy procurement is learnt to have been slowed down, with no focused monitoring during the recent Assembly polls.

Notably, millers seem to have taken advantage of the temporary lapse in government procurement, securing a major portion of the crop directly from farmers. This shift is attributed to farmers predominantly cultivating fine rice varieties during the Vanakalam season, enticing millers to step in when government procurement momentarily waned.

There have been complaints that several millers sold the rice stocks pertaining to Public Distribution Scheme (PDS) stored in their mills recently. However, they have reportedly procured fresh paddy to compensate for the old stocks and to supply it to the State government as per norms.

“By purchasing fine rice variety of paddy, they will be able to supply the promised rice to the State government and also sell excess paddy in the market directly,” an Agriculture official said.

With the Vanakalam (Kharif) marketing season in progress and the commencement of the Yasangi (Rabi) crop season, the officials are now tasked with accelerating paddy procurement to bridge the gap between the current acquisition and the set target. They also have to gear up the millers to complete the pending supplies of milled rice to the State and also clear the stocks for storage space, before preparing for paddy procurement again for Yasangi marketing season scheduled to commence in March-April.

• Paddy cultivated in around 65 lakh acres for Kharif

• Estimated paddy production pegged at 1.45 crore tonnes

• Paddy procurement target of State government is one crore tonnes

• Till Saturday, 44 lakh tonnes have been procured

Hezbollah says clashes with Israel will end only if Gaza war stops

Hezbollah’s Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem

A senior official with of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah says cross-border clashes with Israel will end only if the regime ends its assaults on the Palestinians in Gaza.

Sheikh Naim Qassem, who serves as Hezbollah’s Deputy Secretary General, said on Sunday that the Israeli regime’s efforts to restore peace to the north of the occupied Palestinian territories, where it has been involved in clashes with Hezbollah for nearly three months, will be in vain unless attacks on civilians in Gaza stop completely.

The comments came after Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the regime will do whatever it takes to restore calm to northern occupied Palestine where settlers have either been displaced or live in constant fear of missile attacks by Hezbollah.

“Israel will fail to return settlers to the north (of occupied Palestine)… it has to stop the Gaza war first so the war on the Lebanese front could also end,” said Qassem.

The cleric warned that Israel’s refusal to end the war in Gaza would lead to a further escalation in cross-border clashes with Hezbollah.

“If (Israel) insists on warfare, the response from the resistance would be tougher,” he said.

Nearly 22,000 people have been killed in Gaza since the start of the Israeli aggression on the enclave in early October.

The attacks started in response to an operation by the Gaza-based Hamas resistance group which killed 1,200 settlers and military forces in the Israeli-occupied territories.

Resistance groups in Lebanon, Iraq and Yemen that find themselves allied with the Palestinians have been targeting Israeli and American targets in the region to force the two to end the aggression on Gaza.
