Iran calls for coordination to fight sanctities' desecration

In a meeting with the Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy Koutoub Moustapha Sano who paid a visit to Iran to participate in the 37th edition of the International Islamic Unity Conference (IIUC), the top Iranian diplomat said that the academy plays an important and influential role across the Muslim world.

He also emphasized the importance of increasing the interactions between the thinkers of the Islamic world in order to strengthen Islamic unity and confront the challenges facing the Islamic Ummah.

Amir-Abdollahian further noted that Iran is ready to cooperate with the International Islamic Fiqh Academy to decisively confront offensive actions such as insulting the holy sanctities and Islamic values.

Moustapha Sano, for his part, hailed Iran’s precious efforts in uniting the Islamic Ummah, calling on the country to increase its support for the International Islamic Fiqh Academy.

New Zealand’s ruling party commits to recognize state of Palestine

New Zealand’s ruling Labour Party has joined the growing weight of global opinion that recognizing Palestinian statehood is a prerequisite for a just solution.

The Labour Party’s commitment entails extending an invitation to the head of the General Delegation of Palestine, allowing them to present their credentials as an ambassador to New Zealand.

New Zealand’s Prime Minister Chris Hipkins in February held a meeting with Izzat Salah Abdulhadi, who serves as the head of the General Delegation of Palestine to Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.

This action would align New Zealand with the prevailing sentiment observed at the United Nations, where 139 out of 193 member states have already recognized Palestine’s sovereignty.

The Green Party of New Zealand earlier put forward a motion asking the parliament to recognize Palestine as a state.

Advocacy organizations like Justice for Palestine and Alternative Jewish Voices have expressed their support for this commitment.

“It’s great to see the Labour Party joining the Green Party in making a commitment to recognize Palestine if elected. In doing so they are continuing Aotearoa New Zealand’s tradition of taking independent and principled stances on foreign policy issues from nuclear free to standing up against apartheid.” Justice for Palestine spokesperson, Neil Ballantyne, said.

“We have faith that just as ordinary New Zealanders were not prepared to stand by in silence while the South African government maintained an apartheid regime, we will not be silent while Palestinians suffer similar indignities and will reward those politicians who are taking this courageous stance,” he continued.

While New Zealand has not officially recognized Palestine as a sovereign state, it has consistently censured the Israeli occupation. Additionally, New Zealand has been a strong advocate for the two-state solution.

Presently, Palestine’s status at the UN is that of a “non-member observer state,” which was upgraded from an “observer entity” in 2012.

However, for Palestine to achieve full UN membership, it needs approval from the UN Security Council, followed by a vote in the UN General Assembly.

Palestine applied for full UN membership in 2011 but failed to get the necessary support in the UN Security Council, which is dominated by the US-led Western states, Israel’s key backers.

Senior Palestinian officials from the Palestinian Authority (PA) have urged the international community to recognize an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East al-Quds as its capital and demanded all-out support for its full membership in the United Nations.

Observers say the so-called two-state initiative is fading and being violated systematically by Israel and its Western allies, and it has become fairly difficult to implement it.

In June, the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas said statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the occupying regime’s plans to eliminate the Palestinian people’s aspirations for an independent state confirm Israel’s “fascist” nature.

Jordan slams Israeli settlers’ repeated violations against Aqsa Mosque

The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has condemned the ongoing violations by Jewish extremists against the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in the occupied Old City of al-Quds, and the Israeli regime’s restrictive measures on Palestinians in the holy site.

Sufyan Qudah, the spokesman for the ministry, urged Israel to live up to its obligations under international law as the occupying power in East al-Quds, stressing that all practices and violations against al-Quds Mosque must end and its sanctity respected.

“Israel has no sovereignty over occupied East al-Quds and has no right to impose restrictions on the entry to the holy compound,” Qudah said,

The Jordan-run Islamic Waqf Department, which is in charge of al-Aqsa Mosque affairs, has the exclusive jurisdiction over the site, he added.

Qudah reiterated that the mosque compound is purely a place of worship for Muslims.

The escalating provocations inside and around the mosque constitute “a flagrant and unacceptable” violation of international law and the existing historical and legal status quo in al-Quds and its holy sites, he pointed out.

On Tuesday, hundreds of Jewish settlers stormed the al-Aqsa Mosque compound under the protection of Israeli security forces.

Eyewitnesses reported that the settlers broke into the courtyards of the sacred site through the Moroccans’ Gate, also known as the Mughrabi Gate, and performed Talmudic rituals on the fourth day of the Jewish Sukkot holiday.

Hard-line Israeli officials and settlers regularly storm the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in the occupied city, a provocative move that infuriates Palestinians.

Such mass break-ins almost always take place at the behest of Tel Aviv-backed temple groups and under the auspices of the Israeli police in al-Quds.

The Jewish visitation of al-Aqsa is permitted but as part of a decades-old agreement between Jordan – the custodian of Islamic and Christian sites in al-Quds – and Israel in the wake of Israel’s occupation of East al-Quds in 1967, non-Muslim worship at the compound is prohibited.

In October 2021, an Israeli court upheld a ban on Jewish prayers at the al-Aqsa Mosque compound, after an earlier lower court’s decision stirred outrage among various Palestinians and across the Muslim world.

The district court judge in al-Quds Aryeh Romanov on October 8 confirmed that Jews are barred from worshiping openly at the site, and only Muslims are permitted to pray there.

In May 2021, frequent acts of violence against Palestinian worshipers at al-Aqsa Mosque led to an 11-day war between Palestinian resistance groups in the besieged Gaza Strip and the Israeli regime, during which the regime forces killed at least 260 Palestinians, including 66 children.

Two injured after Israeli regime attacked Iraq-Syria border

Israeli regime’s fighter jets bombed the positions of the Hashd al-Shaabi Resistance group in the Al Bukamal region early Tuesday.

According to local Syrian sources, at least four attacks have been carried out on Hashd al-Shaabi positions in Al Bukamal.

Meanwhile, SANA reported that the airstrike carried out by the Zionist enemy left two soldiers injured and caused material damage as well.

The Israeli regime’s violations and attacks against various areas in Syria continue, despite the Syrian government repeatedly calling on international forums, including the United Nations, to condemn the Israeli aggressions and take action to stop them.

UK activists remember Khashoggi 5 years after Saudi journalist’s murder

British human rights campaigners have held a candlelight vigil to mark five years since the state-sponsored killing of dissident Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

The vigil took place outside Saudi Arabia’s embassy in London on Monday evening as security guards lingered around the gates of the premises.

Some of the activists chanted slogans such as “down down bin Salman,” referring to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who is accused of ordering the assassination of the Middle East Eye (MEE) and Washington Post columnist.

Khashoggi, who had been critical of the Riyadh government, was killed and dismembered by Saudi agents in the kingdom’s Istanbul consulate on October 2, 2018.

The US spy agency CIA said it had collected multiple sources of intelligence indicating that bin Salman, the heir to the Saudi throne, had issued the instructions for the murder.

Kuwaiti activist Salman al-Khaldi told the MEE that participants at the London vigil were harassed by members of the Saudi embassy, noting that Riyadh harasses anyone who speaks out about Khashoggi.

“Today, I have a five-year sentence against me in Kuwait just because I have spoken out about Jamal Khashoggi and I have been banned from entering Saudi Arabia for 25 years,” he said. “If we are silent about Khashoggi, we will be next.”

Huda al-Amri, a UK-based Saudi activist, described Monday’s vigil as an important step in calling for justice.

“If we don’t call for justice now, our time will come too,” she said. ”Bin Salman is a murderer and this is not just about Khashoggi. He was just one of many. There were many before him and there have been many after him. People need to raise their voices for the sake of justice.”

After Khashoggi’s killing, bin Salman was broadly shunned in the West. Recently, however, there has been a shift in the trend as certain world powers are turning a blind eye to Saudi Arabia’s rights record in a bid to attract investment from the oil-rich state.

Daniel Gorman, director of the human rights organization English Pen, was also at the vigil, where he renewed calls for a thorough probe into Khashoggi’s brutal assassination.

“Justice has not been served for Khashoggi, so we continue to call for a full investigation. Given that it has been five years since his brutal murder in the embassy in Istanbul, it is very sad that we have to be here today, but we will continue,” he told the MEE.

“According to independent organizations, the instructions come from the top, so Mohammed bin Salman should be held accountable…we call for all political prisoners to be released.”

Israel's new aggression injures 2 soldiers in eastern Syria

This file photo shows the immediate aftermath of an Israeli missile attack against Syria’s capital city of Damascus.

Israeli aircraft have carried out another act of aggression against Syria, this time targeting positions near the eastern city of Dayr al-Zawr.

A Syrian military source was quoted by the country’s official SANA news agency as saying that the late Monday attack was aimed at military positions positions in the vicinity of Dayr al-Zawr.

The source added that the attack left at least two Syrian soldiers injured while causing some material damage.

Israel has frequently attacked the positions of Syria’s military and its allies during past years. The regime’s acts of aggression have increased since 2011, when the Arab country found itself in the grip of rampant foreign-backed violence and terrorism.

The regime’s raids mostly target the positions of Syria’s allies that have been aiding the country in its battle against foreign-sponsored terror groups.

Damascus has repeatedly complained to the United Nations over the Israeli assaults, urging the Security Council to take action against Tel Aviv’s crimes. Its demands, however, have fallen on deaf ears.

In its latest letter to the world body in late August, Syrian Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said Israel’s attacks constitute a deliberate and repeated violation of the sovereignty of a member state of the United Nations and pose a direct threat to the regional and international peace and security.

It said the attacks prove that Israel is determined to follow a serious and aggressive policy of escalation against Syria based on sabotaging infrastructure, and endangering the lives of civilians.

Syria and the Israeli regime are technically at war due to the latter’s 1967-to-present occupation of Syria’s Golan Heights. Israel maintains a significant military presence in the territory, which it uses as a launching pad for attacks against Syrian soil.

Muslims around world observe Prophet, Imam Sadiq birth anniv.

Every year, Muslims around the world celebrate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah sent to confirm the essential teachings of monotheism.

Born on the 17th day of the Islamic month of Rabi’ al-Awwal, Prophet Muhammad’s day of birth is an opportunity for many people to praise his good manners and his sacred mission, and get to commemorate his existence.

Muhammad was the son of Abdullah, who was the son of Abdul-Muttalib, who was the son of Hashim – whose ancestry reached the Prophet Ismael son of the Prophet Abraham, peace be upon them. The Prophet Muhammad was born in the city of Mecca, in Arabia, on a Friday, the 17th day of the lunar month of Rabi-I, in the year 570 CE into a noble family whose fathers and ancestors were amongst the chiefs of the Quraysh tribe, and the Bani-Hashim clan.

Muhammad grew up to become a fine young man. He became known for his excellent manners, and because of the honesty in his conduct and dealings, he was referred to as al-Amin (The Trustworthy One).

According to the Twelver Shias, the mission of the Prophet (PBUH) began on the Rajab 27/ June 25, 610. In the years prior to his mission, Muhammad (PBUH) spent a lot of time in solitude, worshiping God. He would spend a month in solitude in a cave called Hira’, in the mountains, and would worship God there. At the age of 40, Muhammad (PBUH) was visited by the angel Gabriel while on retreat in the cave. The angel recited to him the first revelations of the Quran and informed him that he was God’s prophet.

Because of the efforts of the Prophet (s), the pre-Islamic Age of Ignorance ended, and the polytheistic society of Arabia was transformed into a monotheistic society in a short time. Towards the end of the Prophet’s life, almost everyone in the Arabian Peninsula had converted to Islam. The number of Muslims has continued to grow ever since, and Islam is now the fastest-growing religion globally.

The Prophet (s) enjoined his followers to adhere to the teachings of the Qur’an and the Ahl al-Bayt (a). He designated Imam ‘Ali (a) as his successor on various occasions throughout his life, including the event of Ghadir.

The holy Imams are regarded as the Prophet’s legitimate successors not because they are related to him, but because they possess the attributes essential for religious-political leadership.

Each year, on the day of the Prophet’s birth anniversary, Muslims from around the world will gather to celebrate and commemorate the great occasion. According to narratives of the Sunni Muslims, the Prophet’s birthday is on the 12th of Rabi’ al-Awwal. This year, Palestinians in Hebron city in the southern part of the occupied West Bank on Thursday celebrated the birth anniversary of Islam’s Prophet Muhammad amid heavy restrictions.

A religious ceremony was organized by the Islamic Waqf department in the Ibrahimi Mosque and included sermons and religious songs celebrating the event.

Hebron’s Old City also was decorated with balloons, light ropes, and banners marking Prophet Muhammad’s birthday.

Muslims in Egypt also observed Mawlid al-Nabawi, the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) last week. Muslims of all ages flocked to the mosques to pray, read the Quran, and recite poems dedicated to the Prophet. Concerts, exhibitions, and religious programs were also organized there.

In Iran, just as in other Muslim countries, the occasion every year is marked gloriously with the participation of massive crowds of people. In Iran, an event will be held between the days of the 12th of Rabi’ al-Awwal and the 17th of the Lunar Month, known as the Islamic Unity Week. Marked first time in Iran in the mid-1980s and based on the decree of the late Imam Khomeini, Muslims around the world observe Islamic Unity Week between these dates.

The 17th of Rabi’ al-Awwal is also celebrated with the birth anniversary of another important personality in Islam, the reviver of the teachings and Sunnah of the Prophet, the 6th Imam of Shia Muslims, Imam Jafar al-Sadiq (AS).

The sun of the existence of Imam Jafar al-Sadiq arose in the 83rd year of Hijrah, in the city of Madina. Imam Jafar al-Sadiq (AS) has the same birth date as that of our Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Imam Jafar al-Sadiq (AS) has three titles; As-Sadiq, Al-Fadil, and At-Tahir.

His father Imam Muhammad Baqir (AS) was very happy and pleased by the birth of his son. His mother Umm-e-Farwah was the granddaughter of Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr, who was one of the companions of Imam Ali (AS).

In order to train his students, Imam al-Sadiq (AS) made the most out of the time when there was no dictatorship and cruelty because the Abbasids and the Umayyads were in political conflict with one another over power.

In doing so, Imam al-Sadiq (AS) followed in his father’s footsteps. The school established by Imam Baqir (AS) was expanded by Imam al-Sadiq (AS).  Imam al-Sadiq’s students were not limited to Shias; rather, Sunnis also benefited from his knowledge. Many well-known Sunni leaders were directly or indirectly the Imam’s students.

The turbulent lifetime of Imam al-Sadiq (AS) began in 83 A.H. and ended in 148 A.H. He spent 31 years of his life in the presence of his holy father.

Hezbollah leader: Normalization with Israel by any country stab in Palestinians’ back

The leader of Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement has urged Muslims across the world to strongly condemn any step taken by any country toward normalization of relations with Israel.

Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah made the remarks in a Monday televised speech on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

“Any country that moves toward normalization of its relations [with Israel] must be condemned, because this step amounts to abandoning Palestine and bolstering the [Zionist] enemy, which must not be accepted,” the Hezbollah leader said.

Nasrallah was making an apparent reference to the latest efforts by the United States to persuade Saudi Arabia to normalize its relations with the Israeli regime.

Elsewhere in his speech, Nasrallah urged the “Muslim Ummah” to fulfill its responsibility toward the Palestinian people and the al-Aqsa Mosque.

“The Muslim Ummah must shoulder responsibility for what is happening to the brave people of Palestine and the al-Aqsa Mosque and Zionists must hear the voice of the Muslim world with regard to the first qibla of Muslims.”

Arab and Muslim countries have criticized Riyadh for keeping the door open to a renewed push by the United States to work out a normalization deal between Saudi Arabia and Israel, saying it would be a betrayal of the Palestinian cause and would encourage the Israeli regime to intensify its aggression.

Palestinian resistance movements believe that Israel has already been emboldened by the potential success of efforts to normalize ties with Saudi Arabia, saying attempts in recent weeks by extremist settlers to make regular presence in al-Aqsa Mosque show the regime wants to pile up pressure on Palestinians.

Reports suggest that Washington will reward Saudi Arabia for normalizing ties with Israel with a major security pact as well as support for the kingdom’s plans to develop a peaceful nuclear program.

This comes as calls for the regular presence of Jewish extremists in the Aqsa Mosque have increased in recent days concurrent with holidays marking a Jewish festival.

Israeli police allows settlers’ incursions into the al-Aqsa Mosque complex despite repeated condemnations by the Palestinians and international community. The provocative incidents have been on the rise since the cabinet of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took office last December.

Such incursions come despite the fact that non-Muslim worship at the al-Aqsa Mosque compound is prohibited according to an agreement between the occupying Israeli regime and the Jordanian government following the regime’s seizure of East al-Quds in 1967.

Elsewhere in his speech, Nasrallah touched on the West’s media warfare against Muslim nations, which is aimed at undermining those nations and achieving goals that have not been realized through wars.

“Enemies use the media war, which is also known as the soft war, to weaken nations and … achieve those goals, which they have failed to realize through military wars,” Nasrallah said.

He also pointed to economic problems facing Syria and displacement of a large number of its people due to a Western-sponsored terrorist war against Damascus, emphasizing that the United States is the primary culprit behind Syria’s refugee crisis.

“The main party responsible for the influx of refugees into Lebanon is that who kindled the war in Syria, that is the US government,” the Hezbollah leader said.

“Following the implementation of the Caesar Act, the United States is also responsible for the economic crisis in Syria as well. Those who believe that Syrian refugees are a threat to Lebanon must tell Washington that Lebanon would be saved through the abrogation of the Caesar Act,” Nasrallah said.

Syria has been a target of US sanctions since 1979. Following the start of the foreign-sponsored terrorist war in the country in 2011, the US and its Western allies imposed several rounds of sanctions on the Arab country. The sanctions intensified with the passing of the Caesar Act in 2019, which targeted any individual and business that participated either directly or indirectly in Syria’s reconstruction efforts.
