CM’s claims about threat to his govt to divert attention, says Laxman

Hyderabad: BJP Rajya Sabha member K Laxman alleged that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy‘s claims about his party leaders trying to pull down the state government was an attempt to divert people’s attention from his party’s failure to fulfil poll promises and to gain sympathy vote for the ensuing Lok Sabha polls.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, Laxman said that claims about threat to Revanth Reddy’s government were false and an attempt to divert the attention of the people from core issues. “The CM is trying to gain sympathy from people to get their votes for the Lok Sabha polls,” he alleged.

Stating that the Congress was feeling insecure as it had failed to implement the six guarantees, he said the ruling party was unable to face people during the campaigning as it had miserably failed in fulfilling the poll promises. “It has become clear that the promises made by the Congress were only to seize power. It has no intention to fulfil its promises,” he said.

Accusing the AIMIM of forging a secret alliance with the Congress and the BRS parties, the senior BJP leader said the two parties had decided to extend support to Majlis in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls from Hyderabad seat. “People should understand the opportunistic politics of these parties and reject them,”he said.

Record-breaking gold prices hit Hyderabad markets, calls for patience from experts

Hyderabad: Amidst the glittering surge in gold prices, experts in the city stress calm amidst highs. With the surge being too fast, exercising patience before making substantial purchases is what is being advised.

“The surge is happening too rapidly. It’s advisable to exercise patience before making substantial purchases,” stated Praveen Kumar, the secretary of the Twin Cities Jewellers Association.

The rise in gold prices continued its upward trajectory, reaching a historic peak on Friday.

The price of 24 carat gold per 10 grams soared to an unprecedented Rs 73,310 in retail markets across the city, marking a significant milestone in the precious metal’s price history in the region.

This surge reflects a global trend, with gold prices witnessing a steady rise across international markets.

In just a span of a month in Hyderabad, the price of 24-carat gold per 10 grams escalated from Rs 66,260 on March 12 to the current record high of Rs 73,310 on April 12, according to industry reports.

Kumar commented on the unprecedented rise, saying, “There should be a correction for sure, but the extent of the correction remains uncertain. If the price were to dip from Rs 75,000 to Rs 70,000, it would not be considered a significant correction. However, this surge has made gold a more expensive investment for the future, with Rs 68,000 now becoming a benchmark for hesitant buyers.”

Kumar highlighted key factors driving this surge, including statements from the US Federal Reserve signaling a potential reduction in interest rates. “Whenever the US Fed hints at rate reductions, investors anticipate a rise in gold prices. While no such rate cuts have materialized yet, mere announcements have propelled gold prices to this unprecedented level,” he explained.

Moreover, the ongoing trend of central banks globally acquiring gold has also contributed to market apprehensions.

This sharp increase in gold prices has implications for consumers, making gold more expensive for future purchases. Kumar noted that a price correction may be imminent but urged caution regarding the magnitude of this correction.

Love pets but not allergies

Hyderabad: While children are fond of domesticated dogs and tend to enjoy and also learn a lot from their companionship, there is also a need for parents to keep a close watch on allergic reactions that their kids might suffer unknowingly, by staying physically close to the canines.

In a cautionary tale for parents and children with a pet dog, a 9-year-old boy from Hyderabad developed runny nose, itching in eyes, breathlessness, skin rashes and his mother suffered from nasal rhinitis or allergic rhinitis, all classic symptoms of allergies due to the pet.

The youngster was brought to Ashwini Allergy Centre, Chikkadpally, where allergy tests revealed that his proximity with the dog was triggering allergies. About two years ago, the boy brought the dog and since then both have always stayed together. Coincidentally, the boy also started developing allergies from the time the dog was adopted.

Senior pulmonologist and allergy specialist from Ashwini Allergy Clinic, Dr. Vyakarnam Nageswar advised there is no need to remove the dog from the house but it has to be kept at a safe distance from the kid’s bedroom and dining area.

He clarified that there is no concept of hypoallergic dogs, which refers to certain dog breeds that are compatible with allergic individuals. “Families should not to fall for the myth that hypoallergic dogs are safe. There is no such entity as hypoallergic dog and it is gimmick propagated by dog breeders. It is mandatory for families with pet dogs to take precautions,” he said.

Important advise:

• ‘Pet Free’ zones like bed rooms and dining areas mandatory in homes

• Dog’s saliva should not come in contact with kids

• Set aside particular time for kids to play with dog at a designated location like verandah

• Wash hands, legs and face of kids with lukewarm water and soap after play

• Dog urine should be cleaned immediately and should not come in contact with kid’s cloths or body

• Dog saliva, urine and fur/hair trigger allergies

• Houses with a carpet must be cleaned because it harbors allergens when dogs sleep and move

• Pet dogs must be free from insect infestations, infections and dewormed

• HEPA air purifies can be installed at locations where the dog stays

Kavitha produced in Rouse Avenue Court, CBI Seeks 5-Day Custody for BRS MLC

New Delhi: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha was produced before the Rouse Avenue Court on Friday morning after her arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the alleged liquor policy scam.

The CBI moved an application seeking five days custodial remand of Kavitha. While seeking her custodial remand CBI said that one liquor businessman of the ‘South Group’ met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and sought his support for starting his business in Delhi. Kejriwal, in turn, assured him for support, the CBI argued.

“We have sufficient material, Whatsapp chats and statements of the associated accused,” the CBI said.

“Dinesh Arora, (accused turn approver) has confirmed in his statement that Abhishek Boinpally informed that Rs 100 crores was given to Vijay Nair. Statement of Hawala operators under Section 161 & 164 CrPC confirms the payment of Rs 11.9 crores. Chats recovered from Buchibabu reveal that she was holding a partnership in Indospririts. Licenses were given to Indospririts even after being blacklisted due to the pressure of accused Manish Sisodia,” the central probe agency added.

Kavitha, who is the daughter of former Telangana Chief Minsiter K Chandrashekhar Rao was arrested by CBI while being in judicial custody in the money laundering case.

The CBI arrested Kavitha on Thursday in connection with the alleged liquor policy scam under sections of criminal conspiracy and falsification of accounts of the Indian Penal Code and certain sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

On Wednesday, the CBI apprised the concerned court in Delhi that the BRS leader had already been examined on April 6 in Tihar Jail in connection with the case.

The Special Judge, Kaveri Baweja, was informed by the CBI counsel that “we are not filing any reply, we have already examined her on April 6”.

On April 5, 2024, the Delhi Court allowed the CBI plea to examine K Kavitha during judicial custody in the Tihar Jail on any day of the coming week.

The CBI, through the application, sought court permission to interrogate or quiz and record the statement of BRS Leader K Kavitha regarding WhatsApp chats recovered from Buchi Babu’s phone and documents to a Land deal post which 100 crores were allegedly paid to Aam Aadmi Party in kickbacks.

The Rouse Avenue Court on Tuesday sent K Kavitha to judicial custody until April 23, 2024. She was arrested by the Directorate of Enforcement recently in connection with the Delhi excise policy-linked money laundering case.
