Primary school teachers across Telangana have protested against GO Ms No. 25 on teacher rationalisation, demanding amendments to the order and the appointment of Vidya Volunteers in schools with high enrolment.

Hyderabad: Primary school teachers in Telangana are up in arms over the implementation of the GO MS No. 25 and demanded that the order be amended. The order details norms for rationalization of teachers based on student strength in the government and local body schools across the State.
At protests held during the school complex meetings across the State and a lunch hour protest at Manakondur Mandal in Karimnagar district on Friday, Secondary Grade Teachers’ Union (SGTU) president K Mahipal Reddy demanded the State government amend the GO MS No. 25 and immediately appoint Vidya Volunteers in the schools with high student enrollment as part of the staff rationalisation.
He wanted strengthening of government primary education, appointment of one teacher for each class and reducing non-teaching duties, so that teachers could continue teaching instead of focusing on administrative work.
The teachers wanted the government to respond to their working conditions, particularly in light of the incident involving Prashanth, a teacher at Chilvakoduru Government School in Jagtial district, who reportedly came under severe stress during a complex meeting.
Mahipal Reddy said teachers were being subjected to work pressure due to a multitude of responsibilities, including staff shortages, the burden of teaching multiple classes, headmaster duties, online tasks, record-keeping, meetings, reports, frequent inspections, and oversight by FLN panel inspection teams. He wanted the government to alleviate the additional pressure caused by FLN panel inspections.
