Congress SC Cell announced a protest march to lay siege to former CM K Chandrashekhar Rao’s Erravalli residence over alleged remarks by BRS MLCs against Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, prompting police to impose Section 144 and deploy heavy security in Siddipet.

Hyderabad: Tensions escalated on Tuesday following the Congress SC Cell’s call to lay siege to former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s residence in Erravalli, condemning what it described as inappropriate remarks allegedly made by BRS MLCs against Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar.
Several Congress party protestors have planned to march from Hyderabad to Siddipet. In view of the proposed protest, police imposed Section 144 and deployed heavy security forces at KCR’s farmhouse in Erravalli, Siddipet district.
Police personnel were stationed at key points around the farmhouse to prevent any untoward incidents and to stop protesters from reaching the premises. Security has also been tightened in the surrounding areas as a precautionary measure.
The Congress SC Cell’s proposed protest comes amid growing political tensions between the ruling Congress and the opposition BRS over the alleged remarks against the Assembly Speaker.
