A 40-year-old lineman died after suffering an electric shock while attending to a power fault at Nandi Hills in Meerpet. Police said he had climbed an electric pole after switching off the transformer, but power reportedly continued in the line.

HYDERABAD: A 40-year-old electricity department worker died after suffering an electric shock while attending to a power supply fault at Nandi Hills in Meerpet on Sunday.
The victim, K Krishnakanth, a lineman working under the Leninnagar substation, had reached a house after receiving a complaint about a power disruption. After inspecting the electricity meter, he attempted to restore the supply.
According to preliminary information, Krishnakanth switched off the transformer and climbed an electric pole to rectify the fault. However, the power supply reportedly continued in the line. He came in contact with the main electric wire and suffered a severe shock, following which he fell from the pole and died on the spot.
A case has been registered.
