The Iraqi government is moving ahead with plans to end the US-led coalition’s military mission by the end of September. Baghdad says the withdrawal of foreign troops will strengthen national sovereignty.

It says the pullout will also place full responsibility for Iraq’s security in the hands of its own forces. But questions remain over the future of the US military presence in the Arab country.
