Hyderabad: Popular Jogini Shyamala Devi and her disciples held a protest during Bonalu celebrations in Secunderabad, leading to mild tension, on Monday.
The protest took place against the Telangana government’s alleged negligence after the Bonam of Jogini Shyamala Devi was toppled on Sunday in front of the Ujjaini Mahakali temple.
On Monday, Shyamala Devi came to the temple along with her disciples (joginis) and attempted to enter forcibly into the area leading to the Ujjaini Mahakali temple, where the Rangam event was scheduled. However, police prevented them from gaining entry.
The police informed them that they would not be allowed. The joginis then protested against the police restrictions and raised slogans against the police. Mild tension prevailed in the area for some time.
