The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has destroyed two drone hangars and a fuel storage facility for military aircraft and helicopters at the US Ali Al Salem Air Base as part of the ongoing Operation Nasr 2.
In a statement released on Thursday, IRGC said the operation was carried out as a continuation of Iran’s campaign to punish the US aggressor.
The statement addressed the people of Kuwait, saying that the campaign to punish the aggressor will continue until the end of the plundering of Muslim nations’ wealth and resources and the expulsion of US “occupying and looting forces” from the region.
Addressing the Iranian nation, the statement said that for 150 consecutive nights, people across the country have continued to hold gatherings demanding revenge for the blood of the martyred Imam and the expulsion of US forces from the region.
The reference to 150 consecutive nights relates to rallies sustained since the terrorist assassination of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei by the US and Israel on February 28.
The statement said that, alongside the public, personnel of the IRGC Aerospace Force and Ground Force have continued confronting the aggressor enemy with determination and courage.
Earlier, the IRGC launched a ballistic missile strike on US-run Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan’s Azraq, destroying three American F-35 fighter jets and heavily damaging three others in retaliation for a US airstrike that killed three members of a family on Iran’s Qeshm Island.
Separately, the IRGC said it intercepted and destroyed a hostile drone over the southern city of Bandar Imam Khomeini.
In a statement, the force said the drone was shot down in the early hours of the morning and its wreckage fell on a residential home in the city. The incident caused no casualties, the statement added.
The drone was identified and neutralized by the IRGC’s explosive ordnance disposal team, which secured the area and removed the debris, according to the statement.
The US has been targeting southern Iranian provinces since earlier in July after violating the terms of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
Tehran has responded with repeated missile and drone attacks targeting US-operated military facilities across the region under Operation Nasr 2 and Operation Sa’eqeh (Lightning).
