Mancherial: About 30 students took ill after consuming stale food at a government-run Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Residential School (Girls) in Bellampalli on Wednesday night.
Parents said the students experienced vomiting and stomach pain after having dinner at 9 pm. They were immediately shifted to a hospital. They were later discharged by midnight. However, they again suffered from vomiting and stomach pain on Thursday morning. They were rushed to a hospital and were undergoing treatment when reports last came in.
The parents expressed concern over the incident. They urged officials to take steps to ensure hygienic food was served to the students. They also requested the authorities to take measures to prevent the recurrence of food poisoning incidents in future. Officials said samples of the food would be sent to a laboratory for examination.
