Hyderabad: Army Public School, Kendriya Vidyalaya No 1, Golconda, and TMREIS (Telangana Minority Residential Educational Institutions Society) dominated the Dr Dipti Sur Memorial multi-sports championship for girls, a two-day initiative organised by the Sports Coaching Foundation (Masab Tank) to empower young girls through competitive sports at the SCF floodlit venue here.
The event was dedicated to the memory of Dr Dipti Sur, one of the pioneers in the field of education who strongly believed in the transformative power of sports and education for youth development.
The tournament saw about 600 young athletes take part in different disciplines including cricket, volleyball, basketball, badminton, track and field events, kabaddi and kho kho.
Ms Emilia Smith, Public Diplomacy Officer for Public Engagement, US Consulate General, Hyderabad, and Brigadier S V Kulkarni graced the valedictory function.
Earlier, Mrs Sandhya Rani, Senior Divisional Manager, LIC, inaugurated the event.
