Hyderabad: Telangana MLC Venkatram Reddy on Thursday denied reports that his son Bharat Reddy was arrested by the Mangalhat police in connection with a drug case, stating that the news being circulated in the media was “baseless and untrue.”

In a statement, the MLC said that his son had neither consumed drugs nor been arrested by the police. He said Mangalhat police officials visited their residence in the morning and informed the family that they were conducting an inquiry related to a drug case and sought their cooperation.

“Police conducted an inquiry, and it was found that my son had not consumed any drugs. Bharat was not arrested and has no involvement in any drug-related activity,” Venkatram Reddy said.

He added that the police inquiry was initiated based on information linked to a phone number found in the contact list of one of Bharat’s common friends. The police questioned the persons concerned as part of their investigation, he said.

The MLC urged people not to believe rumours and said that reports claiming his son’s arrest and involvement in drug consumption were incorrect.
