European countries must play a decisive role in efforts aimed to put an end to Israel’s crimes and genocidal war in the Gaza Strip, says Iran’s ambassador to Baghdad.
Mohammad Kazem Al-e Sadeq made the remark in a meeting with the new ambassador of the European Union to Iraq, Thomas Seiler, in Baghdad on Sunday.
He slammed the West’s double standard policies on support for human rights and emphasized the necessity of protecting the lives of the defenseless Palestinian people and providing humanitarian aid to them.
The ambassador outlined the latest developments in relations between Iran and the EU, saying European countries need to change their approaches to Tehran and the West Asia region in line with global issues.
The EU ambassador, for his part, said Iran plays a leading role in Iraq as one of its most important neighboring countries.
He added that the continuation of talks among officials of Iran and the European Union at different levels would lead to positive outcomes.
Seiler expressed hope that sustainable peace would be established in Palestine.
The Iranian and EU diplomats also exchanged views about the latest regional and international developments.
