A major leak on the Manjeera Phase-2 pipeline near Rudraram has disrupted water supply across several Hyderabad localities. The HMWSSB said repair work is underway and tankers are being deployed to minimise inconvenience.

Hyderabad: A major leak has been reported on the Manjeera main pipeline under the Manjeera Phase-2 system near Rudraram village, and this has led to disruption of water supply in several parts of the city.

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) said in an official release that the areas expected to be affected include Ramachandrapuram (R C Puram), Ashok Nagar, Jyothi Nagar, Lingampally, Chandanagar, Gangaram, Madinaguda and Miyapur, Beeramguda, Ameenpur, Bhagyanagar Colony, off-take points and bulk connections, Erragadda, S.R. Nagar, Ameerpet, KPHB Colony, Kukatpally and Pragathi Nagar.


In the meantime, the HMWSSB managing director reviewed the progress of the repair work and instructed officials from the Operations & Maintenance and Transmission wings to work together to complete the job and resume supply as soon as possible.

He also directed that water should be provided through tankers to the affected areas to reduce inconvenience to the public. Consumers in the affected locations have been asked to use water carefully, HMWSSB officials said.
