Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Traffic Police have announced traffic diversions and restrictions in view of a candlelight rally to be led by AICC President and Rajya Sabha MP Mallikarjun Kharge from People’s Plaza to the Indira Gandhi Statue at Necklace Rotary on Saturday evening.
To ensure smooth movement of the procession and maintain public safety, traffic diversions will be enforced from 4 pm to 8 pm on a need basis, depending on traffic congestion and crowd movement.
Vehicles coming from Panjagutta and Raj Bhavan towards NTR Marg and PV Narasimha Rao Marg (Necklace Road) will not be permitted to use the Khairatabad Flyover and will instead be diverted via Nirankari, Old PS Saifabad and Iqbal Minar.
At Nallagutta crossroads, traffic from Minister Road heading towards Necklace Road will be diverted towards Karbala, while vehicles coming from Buddha Bhavan towards Necklace Road will be redirected through Minister Road.
Traffic from Secretariat Junction towards Necklace Rotary will not be allowed beyond the Secretariat North-East Gate and will be diverted through Banyan Tree Road, Bada Ganesh Lane and Khairatabad Metro Station.
Similarly, at the Government Printing Press Junction, Khairatabad, vehicles from Mint Lane heading towards Necklace Rotary will be diverted via Bada Ganesh Junction, Khairatabad Market and Khairatabad Metro Station.
Motorists travelling from VV Statue towards Khairatabad Market Road through the railway gate will also face restrictions. Such traffic will be diverted at the Rajiv Gandhi Statue near Khairatabad Metro Station towards Shadan and Nirankari.
The traffic police have cautioned that congestion is likely at VV Statue, Old Police Station Junction (Lakdikapul), Iqbal Minar Junction, Secretariat Junction and the Ranigunj area between 4 pm and 8 pm.
Commuters have been advised to avoid these stretches, plan their journeys in advance and cooperate with traffic personnel.
