KTR questions Rahul Gandhi over unfulfilled promises to auto drivers

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao questioned Congress Lok Sabha leader Rahul Gandhi over the alleged failure of the Congress government to fulfil promises made to auto drivers in Telangana ahead of the 2023 Assembly elections.

He was reacting to a video shared by Rahul Gandhi on his conversation with auto drivers in the wake of fuel price hike.

“Rahul Gandhi Ji, before making grand new promises in Delhi, can you kindly explain what has happened to the promises you made to Telangana’s auto drivers in 2023?” he asked.

In a statement, Rama Rao reminded that the Congress promised a welfare board for auto drivers and annual financial assistance of Rs 12,000 to each driver. However, he said despite 30 months having passed since the Congress came to power, not a single promise was fulfilled. He stated that more than 100 auto drivers had died by suicide since the Congress assumed office in Telangana.

He questioned the Congress leadership for making fresh promises in Delhi without delivering promises in Telangana. “Why this drama in Delhi when the promises made to Telangana’s auto drivers three years ago are still pending?” he asked.
