Major fire in Nizamabad, 12 shops gutted

Nizamabad: In a major fire that erupted at old bus stand in Kamareddy, nearly 12 shops were gutted in the wee hours of Sunday. Officials claimed none were injured in the mishap but severe property loss was reported.

The fire erupted at around 2 a.m. and the 12 shops were engulfed in flames. Preliminary estimates have put the loss at Rs.50 lakh in the incident, according to reports.


Soon after learning about the incident, the fire tenders reached the spot. The fire was doused immediately and measures were initiated to ensure it did not spread to neighbouring shops.

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined. Police are investigating the reasons as to whether it was accidental or any suspicious foul play, reports added.
