Hyderabad: The Musheerabad police registered a case against a bike owner who purchased a stolen bike through an online portal and was using it with the registration number allotted to another vehicle.
The man, Lal Mohammed, a resident of Mallepally, in 2024 purchased a bike from a person after getting in touch with him through an online vehicle sales portal. Lal Mohammed paid the money and was using the bike bearing registration number AP28CJ8911.
However, the registration number AP28CJ8911 was allotted to a vehicle belonging to D Satyanarayana, a resident of Chintal in Ranga Reddy district. After receiving traffic challans, Satyanarayana approached the Hyderabad traffic police, who then tracked down the vehicle of Lal Mohammed with the help of the Musheerabad police.
The police, on checking the chassis and engine numbers of Lal Mohammed’s vehicle, found that registration number AP29AM8979 was allotted to that vehicle. However, some persons changed the registration number and sold the stolen vehicle to Lal Mohammed. The vehicle was handed over to the Musheerabad police station, where a case of vehicle theft was registered in December 2023.
