Farmer rescued once, drowns hours later in Adilabad tank

Adilabad: You cannot escape death if you are haunted by it. In such an instance a farmer, who was fortunately rescued hours before from being drowned in an irrigation tank, drowned while trying to pull out a bullock-cart stuck in the same water body on Saturday. This incident was reported from Zamdapur village in Adilabad Rural mandal.

Police said that Soppiri Sai Kumar (32) was rescued by a fisherman when he, along with his cart, slipped into the tank, after he drove the cart into water so that oxen could drink some water. Apparently, he drove his cart into a deep spot but was saved by the fisherman, who noticed the impending danger.

Sai Kumar was reported to have gone back home with his cart, but he returned to the tank after some time on the same day. When the cart got stuck in water, he tried to pull it out using a rope.

In the process, Sai Kumar fell into the tank and drowned. His parents, who were on the tank bund, raised a hue and cry and locals made a vain bid to rescue him. The parents were devastated to have lost their only son in the mishap.

The incident has since gone viral on social media platforms. Netizens used the instance to illustrate how one cannot escape death if haunted.
