Israeli warplanes hit positions in Syria following rocket attack

Israeli military aircraft have carried out another act of aggression against Syria, targeting positions in the country as the Tel Aviv regime continues its airstrikes against the crisis-hit Arab nation alongside its bloody onslaught against Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip.

The Israeli military announced in a statement that its fighter jets attacked infrastructures in Syria early on Sunday morning.

The statement asserted that the strike was in reaction to rocket fire several hours earlier from Syria toward the occupied Golan Heights. The projectiles reportedly fell in open areas.

There were no immediate reports about the extent of damage at the facility, and possible casualties.

Earlier, Lebanon’s Arabic-language al-Mayadeen television news network, citing informed sources speaking on condition of anonymity, reported that Israeli artillery units had launched seven shells at the Wadi al-Yarmouk area in Syria’s southwestern province of Dara’a. The shells left material damage at the targeted area.

These come against the backdrop of Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.

Israel has launched relentless air and ground attacks on the coastal enclave, including hospitals, residences, and houses of worship, since Palestinian resistance movements launched their surprise attack, dubbed Operation al-Aqsa Storm, against the regime on October 7.

At least 11,078 Palestinians have been killed, including 4,506 children and 3,027 women.

Israel frequently targets military positions inside Syria, especially those of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah which has played a key role in helping the Syrian army in its fight against foreign-backed terrorists.

The Tel Aviv regime rarely comments on its attacks on Syrian territories, which many see as a knee-jerk reaction to the Syrian government’s success in confronting and decimating terrorism.

Israel has been one of the main supporters of terrorist groups that oppose the democratically-elected government of President Bashar al-Assad since the foreign-backed militancy erupted in Syria.
