Karimnagar: Mild tension prevailed in Karimnagar town after activists of the ABVP and other organisations argued and jostled with each other at the 135th Jayanthi celebrations of Dr BR Ambedkar at Court Chowk on Tuesday.
Members of some organisations objected to ABVP student workers carrying their organisation flag at the celebrations. Soon, the arguments turned serious and the workers jostled with each other. Police moved in and brought the situation under control by taking a few ABVP activists into custody.
Earlier, members of Dalit organisations found fault with organisers for inviting people known to them onto the dais, setting aside protocol. As the situation turned serious, celebrations committee chairman and Choppadandi MLA Medipally Satyam intervened in the matter and convinced both sides.
