An ACB trap in Adilabad’s Boath mandal led to the arrest of a forest range officer and junior assistant while allegedly accepting a Rs 15,000 bribe. The duo reportedly demanded Rs 40,000 to clear a Haritha Haram-related bill.

Adilabad: A forest range officer (FRO) and junior assistant (JA) were trapped by Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials while they were allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a contractor in Boath mandal centre on Thursday evening.
ACB DSP Madhu said that Boath FRO T Pranay Kumar and junior assistant Parushuram were arrested while receiving the bribe to clear a cheque of Rs 5.09 lakh relating to watering of saplings planted under Telanganaku Haritha Haram. The two officials were harassing the contractor seeking a bribe of Rs 40,000 bribe to clear the bill for quite a long time.
The vexed contractor approached the ACB officials who in turn laid a trap and apprehended the FRO and JA when they were accepting the bribe in the office of Pranay. The two officials were arrested and produced before a special court for ACB cases in Karimnagar and were sent to judicial remand.
The ACB officials advised the public to report if any public servant demands a bribe to their official favor, by contacting a toll-free number of ACB, 1064 .
