Hyderabad: BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao paid rich tributes to Telangana icon Doddi Komaraiah on his birth anniversary on Friday. He remembered Komaraiah as the first martyr of the Telangana Armed Peasant Struggle and a symbol of resistance against oppressive rule.
In a statement, Chandrashekhar Rao said Komaraiah continues to inspire people’s movements against injustice and guide efforts to achieve social justice, self-respect, and political rights for all sections of society. He said the spirit of such sacrifices played a crucial role in the Telangana statehood movement and in shaping the State’s progress over the past decade.
He added that a true tribute to Telangana’s martyrs like Komaraiah would be when the governments recognise the struggles of diverse communities and secure their constitutional rights.
