A mango orchard in Chikkuduvanipalli village of Karimnagar district caught fire after a suspected electric short circuit on Saturday. The blaze damaged mango trees and destroyed around four tonnes of mangoes before villagers and police personnel brought the situation under control

Karimnagar: A mango orchard caught fire in Chikkuduvanipalli of Manakondur mandal on Saturday. An electric short circuit is suspected to be the reason for the fire accident.
Flames broke out when two high-tension electric wires passing beside the mango orchard came into contact with each other. Later, the fire spread to the mango trees, resulting in damage to the trees as well as the mangoes.
Villagers, including the sarpanch, deputy sarpanch, youth and police personnel, extinguished the flames. About four tonnes of mangoes were burnt.
