Allu Arjun denies he went to Sandhya Theatre without permission; insists that he followed police instructions

Hyderabad: Actor Allu Arjun on Saturday broke his silence over the tragic incident at Sandhya Theatre earlier this month in which a woman died and her son was grievously injured in a stampede when he visited the theatre for a benefit show of his recent release ‘Pushpa- 2: The Rule’.

Offering an apology and clarifying multiple misconceptions surrounding the death of the 35-year-old woman, Revathi, and her 8-year-old son Sritej being grievously injured in a stampede-like situation at the theatre, Allu Arjun said it was an unfortunate accident and that nobody was at fault. He expressed his deep regret over the loss of life but stressed that he never intended to harm anyone.

“The primary reason for this press conference is to make it clear that I do not blame anyone, neither the government nor the officials. The incident was purely unfortunate,” he said, adding that he had remained silent so far in order to avoid further speculation and misinformation.

In the press conference, which came a few hours after Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy squarely blamed the actor for the mishap and accused him of going to the theatre without permission and also of refusing to leave without watching the movie, Allu Arjun denied any involvement in a “roadshow” or “procession”.

“I followed all police instructions and did not go anywhere without permission,” he clarified, stating that he had come out of his car to wave at fans in an attempt to clear the crowd and ensure safe access to the theatre. He also confirmed that he left the theatre when requested by the police and theater management due to the overwhelming crowd.

Contradicting the Chief Minister’s claim that he had not left the theatre till threatened with an arrest and that he waved at his fans even after knowing about the death of a woman, Allu Arjun revealed that he was unaware of the tragic death until the following morning. Upon learning about the incident, he immediately instructed his team to reach out to the family. He added that due to legal restrictions, he was currently unable to meet the bereaved family in person but was providing support through his team. He was also getting hourly updates on the condition of the child, he said.

The actor also conveyed his gratitude towards the government and expressed his disappointment over the damage to his character. “Please do not assassinate my character. I have always aimed to entertain, not harm,” he said, before concluding without taking questions citing legal restrictions.

Even after the death of a woman in a stampede, the actor did not leave the cinema hall, prompting the police to force him out, CM alleged.

BRS MLC K Kavitha

Hyderabad: BRS MLC K Kavitha urged the State government to resume “civil rights day” initiative implemented by the previous BRS government to create awareness about eradication of caste discrimination and untouchability in villages and towns in the State.

Making a special mention on the issue in the legislative council on Saturday, Kavitha said during BRS regime civil rights day was conducted on last Sunday of every month, wherein all the district, village and mandal level officers used to create awareness about the ill effects of caste discrimination and untouchability to the people.

The officials used to spread awareness among various communities regarding SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and Protection of Civil Rights Act, she informed.

However, after Congress came to power, the civil rights day was not being conducted in the State, she said, adding that there was a rise in crime against women in the rural areas, especially against the weaker section women.

She urged the government to resume the civil rights day initiative to instill confidence among the weaker sections.

“In some parts of rural areas still caste discrimination and untouchability continue to persist. There are still two class systems in many villages. To address such issues and create awareness among the people about its ill effects, there is a need to resume the civil rights day,”she observed.

Revanth Reddy has confessed inability to deliver on promises, says KTR

Revanth Reddy Has Confessed Inability To Deliver On Promises Says Ktr

Hyderabad: Launching a scathing attack on the Congress government for the yawning gap between its words and deeds in the implementation of the loan waiver, BRS working president KT Rama Rao said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was misleading the public and the Assembly with false statements on the extent of debt relief extended to the farmers. Stating that Revanth Reddy had come out with a confession statement admitting his inability to implement the Six Guarantees promised by the Congress Party to win the polls, he pointed out that Revanth Reddy was unable to explain how the promised Rs 49,500 crore loan waiver was reduced to Rs. 26,000 crore. Despite this, Revanth Reddy had shamelessly claimed that 100% of the loan waiver had been implemented.

The BRS leader criticized the Congress government for making false promises during elections and failing to deliver once in power. He accused the Congress of misleading farmers with promises of loan waivers and then failing to implement them effectively. He pointed out that the previous BRS government had significantly reduced farmer suicides in Telangana through initiatives like Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima. Citing the National Crime Records Bureau data, which showed a decrease in farmer suicides from 1,348 in 2014 to 178 in 2022, he attributed the drop to the BRS government’s support for the agricultural sector. He also pointed out that the Congress government had failed to provide a clear explanation for the discrepancies in the loan waiver figures. He stated that while one Congress leader claimed that 70% of the loan waiver had been implemented, the Chief Minister claimed that 100% had been achieved. He asserted that no village in the state had received a complete loan waiver and that even the Chief Minister’s own village, Kondareddipalle, was no exception.

Rama Rao also said the Congress government had diverted funds from schemes like Rythu Bandhu to cover the loan waiver and vowed to continue holding the Congress accountable and to ensure that the promises made to farmers were fulfilled.

No more benefit shows, special ticket prices for Tollywood in Telangana, says Congress Govt

Hyderabad: The State government has decided to do away with benefit shows and special privileges like ticket hikes for Telugu movies. The decision comes in the wake of the Sandhya Theatre stampede during a benefit show of Allu Arjun‘s ‘Pushpa 2 – The Rule’ recently. The stampede claimed the life of a woman, Revathi, while her son Sri Tej is still battling for life in hospital.

The announcement was made by Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy in the Assembly on Saturday. The Minister said the State government would not permit any benefit shows and special privileges like ticket hikes anymore.

At the same time, the Minister also announced a financial assistance of Rs.25 lakh to the victim’s family from his personal account. The State government was bearing the medical treatment expenditure of Sri Tej, he added.

Govt move to replace Dharani with Bhu Bharati will prove counterproductive, says Kavitha

While discussing the Bhu Bharati (Record of Rights in Land) Bill, 2024, in the Legislative Council on Saturday, Kavitha expressed concerns that the bill would create confusion across the State, causing difficulties for people in resolving land-related issues. Defending the BRS government’s initiative to introduce the Dharani portal for land registration, she emphasized that Dharani serves as a protective shield for farmers, effectively curbing land scams in the State.

Govt move to replace Dharani with Bhu Bharati will prove counterproductive, says Kavitha

Hyderabad: Terming the move of the Congress government to replace Dharani with Bhu Bharati portal as a retrograde move, BRS MLC K Kavitha warned that the Bhumata portal would lead to land grabbing and other issues creating problem for people of the State.

Speaking on Bhu Bharati (Record of Rights in Land) Bill, 2024 in the Legislative Council on Saturday, Kavitha said the Bhu Bharathi would create chaos in the State and that people would face problems in resolving land issues. Defending the BRS government initiative to introduce Dharani portal to register lands, she said the Dharani was a protective shield for farmers of the State and that it helped in arresting land scam in the State.

In the past, if tenant farmers filed cases, farmers used to go around the courts for 20-25 years, hence the then Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao brought reforms and through which he made sure that only the farmer had the right to own the land, she said, adding that Chandrashekhar Rao provided land security to farmers, and many land problems were resolved through the Dharani.

About 35,749 employees cleared the revenue records in 100 days, after which the land details were uploaded in the Dharani, she said, adding that the BRS government saved government lands with the Dharani, and after it came into existence, not a single inch of government land was alienated.

She reminded that the BRS government had brought the land registration system closer to the people, and that the work could be completed in 42 minutes by doing registration and mutation at the same time, and that all land-related work was completed in a matter of minutes.

Due to the correctness of land records, land rates had increased and the wealth of the State had increased, she said, adding that many disputes used to arise in the State due to manual land records, which Dharani solved.

“Due to the clarity of land records and the names of the owners, farmers were provided with Rythu Bandhu. The BRS government provided Rythu Bandhu to about 66 lakh farmers due to Dharani. Earlier crop loans were not even available.

But after Dharani came, banks started giving crop loans. Thus, farmers were freed from private moneylenders,”she said.
If land titles were written with 32 columns again, the old system would come back and disputes would arise between farmers, which would result in registration of cases and financial burden, she cautioned.

Deceit, broken promises and shattered aspirations; It’s a bitter 2024 for unemployed youth in Telangana

Deceit, broken promises and shattered aspirations; It’s a bitter 2024 for unemployed youth in Telangana

Congress

Hyderabad: Broken promises and shattered aspirations. It has been a bitter ‘Year 2024’ for the unemployed youth of Telangana with the Congress government led by A Revanth Reddy failing to deliver the poll promise of filling up 2 lakh vacancies in a year.

The Congress promise in its youth declaration during the Assembly elections generated hope among the unemployed. However, as months passed by, reality dawned for the unemployed youth that the promises were mere bait to garner votes.

As part of the youth declaration, the Congress party assured to release the mega district selection committee (DSC) notification for filling up teacher vacancies. However, it had added 5,973 vacancies to the DSC notification, which was already notified with 5,089 posts by the previous BRS government in 2023. This left thousands of teacher job aspirants betrayed.

Further, the State government did not approve a single recruitment to the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC), the largest recruiting body to the government, resulting in no new notification from the Commission this calendar year. The only notification has been of the Group – I for 563 vacancies out of which 503 posts were already notified by the BRS government in 2022.

Of the 2 lakh promised jobs, only 5,000 vacancies in the health department materialized with the majority of vacancies in different departments remaining unfilled.

During the previous BRS government, the TGPSC had alone consistently issued 135 notifications for over 52,500 vacancies in the last one decade. These notifications had become a reliable job calendar for unemployed youth.

Now, lack of job notifications not just dashed hopes of the unemployed youth but has left them with a sense of betrayal. “The Congress promise during assembly elections was nothing but cheating unemployed youth in the name of jobs. As per our estimates there are 2.67 lakh vacancies in government departments yet recruitment were not approved for the same,” lamented A Janardhan, an unemployed youth and Groups job aspirant.

While the Congress government is making claims of filling up 55,143 vacancies in one year, notifications for all these vacancies were issued during the previous BRS government. The present government handed over the appointment letters to candidates selected in the examinations conducted by the previous government.

Further, the Congress government’s job calendar released in the Assembly in August, giving time-line for 14 different job notifications, remained confined to paper.

As per the calendar, the government scheduled Group – I notification in October with the preliminary test in February 2025. However, even after two months the government did not approve Group – I vacancies for recruitment, leave aside Group – I notification. In fact, the current Group – I services recruitment notification has been facing legal hurdles for different issues, including reservation violation.

“The job calendar is another drama by the Congress government, which is delaying the notifications citing SC sub categorisation issue. If the government wants it can issue a GO on the reservation issue and take up new recruitments,” said Indra Nayak, a Group job aspirant.

Uttar Pradesh Police enlists social media influencers, students as ‘Digital Warriors’ to fight cybercrime, fake news

Uttar Pradesh Police enlists social media influencers, students as ‘Digital Warriors’ to fight cybercrime, fake news

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Police has enlisted social media influencers and college students as “digital warriors” to strengthen its fight against cybercrime and combat fake news, an officer said on Saturday.

“The digital warriors (a network of social media influencers and college students) will raise awareness about cybercrime, counter misleading news, train ordinary citizens as cyber trainers, and publicise the commendable work and campaigns of the police,” said Uttar Pradesh’s Director General of Police, Prashant Kumar.

Kumar cited a pilot project run by the UP Police ahead of the Maha Kumbh Mela to combat fake news. This month-long project, which involved influencers and college students, was successful and has now been expanded statewide, he said.

“The Uttar Pradesh Police launched the ‘Digital Warriors’ initiative in 2018, which became active on WhatsApp. People from different sections of society were added as digital volunteers,” Kumar explained.

“In 2023, ‘WhatsApp Community Groups’ were created, adding all UP Police personnel, enabling them to refute fake news and publicise the commendable work of the police.” He added that currently, about 10 lakh people are connected as digital volunteers, and around 2 lakh policemen are linked through community groups.

“Owing to the limited access of these digital volunteers to WhatsApp and their limited activity on other social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter (now X), Facebook, YouTube, etc., there was a need to engage the younger generation of social media influencers and college/university students with the UP Police by making them ‘digital warriors,’” Kumar said.

Focusing on the benefits of training the younger generation, the UP DGP said, “By training college/university students, we can develop critical thinking skills, enabling them to analyze and verify information. These students will become digital warriors for UP Police and help report cybercrime and fake news.” He added that these students will also be able to raise awareness about fake news and cybercrime within their families and social circles.

Workshops will be organised in colleges, schools, or collectively at the Police Lines.

The workshops will feature cybercrime experts, fact-checkers, cyber trainers, and district cyber police station cells, who will share technical knowledge and practical experience.

Cyber Clubs will be established in schools and universities, with a teacher from each institution serving as the nodal officer.

Workshops and creative sessions, such as poster-making, slogan/short-story writing, and social media content creation, will be conducted through the cyber clubs, Kumar said.

Mohali building collapse

Chandigarh: A 20-year-old woman, hailing from Himachal Pradesh, died after she was pulled out of the debris of a four-storey building that collapsed in the Sohana village of Punjab’s Mohali district on Saturday, officials said.

Drishti Verma, a native of Theog, was rescued from the rubble in critical condition and was rushed to Sohana Hospital, Viraj S Tidke, officiating deputy commissioner, said.

Verma, however, succumbed to her injuries.

A multi-storey building collapsed Saturday evening, with at least five people trapped in its rubble.

Police have booked building owners — Parwinder Singh and Gagandeep Singh, Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police Deepak Pareek said.

Several excavators were pressed into service as part of the rescue operation.

Officials said a National Disaster Response Team (NDRF) team was carrying out the operation.

Medical teams, along with an ambulance, have also been deployed.

Tidke said anyone with apprehension that their family members may be the ones trapped in the debris can dial district control room number 0172-2219506.

He said all major hospitals in the city, such as Civil Hospital (attached within Medical College), Fortis, Max and Sohana, have been put on alert to cater to the wounded.

He said that required equipment and machinery have been made available to the rescuers, in addition to those brought by the NDRF and army.

Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed his sorrow at the incident.

“Sad news has been received that a multistorey building near Sohana in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali) has collapsed. The entire administration and other rescue teams have been deployed at the spot. I am in constant touch with the administration,” he wrote on X.

“We pray that there is no loss of life, we will also take action against the culprits. Appeal to the people to cooperate with the administration,” he added.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, who was at the spot, said a multi-agency rescue effort was underway.

Mohali SSP Pareek said, “Our teams are working. Efforts are underway to clear the debris as soon as possible. Lighting arrangements have been made for the operation.”

A resident said a loud noise was heard when the building collapsed.

Preliminary information suggests the building, which also had a gym, collapsed due to digging in an adjacent plot.

A gym member said she escaped the collapse as she skipped her session on Saturday. Anandpur Sahib MP Malvinder Singh Kang and Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh reached the spot to oversee the rescue work.

Kulwant Singh said, “It is an unfortunate incident. Rescue operation is in full swing.”

Qatari delegation to hold meeting with HTS leader

Qatari sources announced that the Qatari Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs HE Dr Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi headed a delegation to Damascus on Monday and is set to meet and talk with Tahrir al-Sham ringleader Mohammad Al-Jolani.

The expansion of diplomatic and political relations with the future government of Syria will be one of the main axes of this trip.

During the last few years, Qatar has played a special role in Syria’s current affairs by expanding its relations with Turkey. Even now, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and what is called the Syrian National Army (supported by Turkey) have close relations with Qatar.

Iran not to abandon its friends

Iran’s political approach is not based on “pragmatism” but rather on the Islamic approach with its high values in keeping promises and agreements with people. For instance, the God Almighty says, “fulfill your promises, because, you will be questioned about them on the Day of Judgment.”

The master of the resistance martyrs, Martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, has also expressed this Islamic method, “We are the people of honesty and loyalty, and people who adhere to our positions… This is how we have been and this is how we will be!”

Accordingly, “honesty” is the method of Islamic governance. This “honesty” is one of the sources of the power of Islam and system of governance in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

During the trip of the former Soviet Union’s Foreign Minister Eduard Shevardnadze to Iran in the 1980s, who was carrying a letter to the late founder of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khomeini (RA), he refused to receive the letter and left the meeting room, leaving his guest in the room. Of course, it was not that he did not want to honor his guest, rather, the late Imam Khomeini (RA) understood the content of the letter in compromising the religious values of the country.

In 2019, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, by following the same behavior of the late Imam Khomeini (RA), said after receiving the then US President Donald Trump’s letter – which was brought by Japanese President Shinzo Abe, “I personally do not consider Trump worthy of exchanging any message, and I do not have and will not give him any response!” This is the way Islam treats others. When Iran’s guest, martyr Ismail Haniyeh, was assassinated on the soil of Iran, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei insisted on the importance of avenging his (Martyr Haniyeh) blood; because Islam supports its guest and respects the blood of Muslims.

Therefore, the entire history of the Islamic Revolution of Iran and its relations with the world reflects this value, the title of “honesty”, which is considered one of the reasons for the victory of the Islamic Revolution and its continuation.

Islam values relationships with others and respecting them in the administration of the country and the government’s interaction with other countries, and this method of governance is mentioned in the sublime statement of Imam Ali (AS) in his covenant with his governor in Egypt, Malik Ashtar (May Allah be pleased with him), who said: “People are of two types: either they are your brothers in religion or they are similar to you in creation. By heeding this administrative advice of Imam Ali (AS), the Muslim ruler is capable of interacting with others, regardless of their ethnicity, religion, or appearance. On the other hand, Islam rejects betrayal. The God Almighty has said in verse 58 of Surah Anfal, “Indeed, God does not like traitors.”

So, how is it possible for a Muslim to betray for any reason and under any circumstances?! The United States and Western countries have tried to deceive the Islamic Republic of Iran with a series of concessions and in return, ask them to give up their strategic support for the resistance in the region! In response to these efforts, Imam Khamenei said, “Presence in regional issues is our strategic depth; this itself is a means of strengthening the Establishment; it is a means of the Establishment’s power; how can we give up this?!”

He (Leader) also emphasized, “Failing to face America or any other power in order to remain immune from sanctions is a big mistake and a blow to political power.”

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei also rejected the change in Iran’s relationship with Russia due to Western sanctions on Russia and emphasized preserving the principles of the Islamic Revolution in relations with the world.

Despite the severity of sanctions on Iran and the Iranian nation, this country (Iran) has continued its support for all resistance groups in Iraq, Lebanon, Yemen, Palestine, and Syria. The cost of this support is dangerous and serious, because it is a confrontation with the Global Arrogance manifested in the United States, Israel, Western countries, and their mercenaries in the region. When the world’s media outlets mention the name of a resistance group, they add the phrase: “under the support of Iran.” All the resistance groups also explicitly announce this support and its source.

Media outlets hostile to the issue of Palestine and Islam claim that Iran has abandoned former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and has not supported him in defending Damascus in recent events. This is nothing more than an illusion, because first of all, the change of regime in Syria is not in the interest of Iran and Hezbollah, and regardless of how Bashar and his government have behaved in recent events, they have previously been supporters of the resistance and Hezbollah, and despite the severity of the sanctions imposed on them, they had preserved Syria’s weapons and institutions.

Former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad did not embrace the countries that were accommodating and normalizing their relations with the Zionist regime, and he did not give up the resistance and Iran. Of course, it goes without saying that Bashar al-Assad’s replacement is nothing more than a terrorist figure, whether he cuts his beard or grows it long! The second point in this regard is that Iran had previously advised Bashar al-Assad about the necessity of the opposition’s participation in the government based on the Astana agreement but Bashar al-Assad believed that there were no individuals among the opposition who deserved to participate in the government.

Undoubtedly, the developments in Syria were planned in the American and Zionist think tank with the help of Turkey, and changed the regional equations in favor of America and Israel, and influenced the developments and achievements of Al-Aqsa Storm Operation; but the question is: “Is Al-Aqsa Storm Operation over?”

As much as the enemies of the Islamic Ummah plan to save themselves from the consequences of Al-Aqsa Storm Operation, it is observed that the Axis of Resistance have not laid down their weapons and the road is still long and capabilities and possibilities of the resistance are superior to those of the Zionist enemy, which has been hit by the resistance for nearly a year and military bases of the criminal Zionist regime are still threatened and weapons of resistance are still in hands of Resistance Front! None of us will abandon our friends and will not appease the enemy about them.

‘All wars have rules. All of those rules have been broken’ by Israel

Philippe Lazzarini, the head of the UN’s agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), says there has been an “escalation” in Israel’s war on Gaza over the past 24 hours as the Israeli military keeps pounding the blockaded territory.

In a post on X on Sunday, Lazzarini reiterated his calls for a ceasefire, saying that “the world must not become numb.”

The UNRWA chief said Israel has violated all rules of engagement with attacks on schools and hospitals.

“All wars have rules. All of those rules have been broken,” he stated.

“A ceasefire is long overdue—a respite for civilians wherever they are including across Gaza & the immediate release of hostages. Enough time was wasted,” he stated.

At least seven people were killed and several others injured after an Israeli airstrike targeted tents housing the displaced Palestinians in the al-Mawasi refugee camp, near Khan Yunis, southern Gaza.

In central Gaza, a similar strike on a school northwest of the Nuseirat refugee camp caused several fatalities.

The regime’s artillery also shelled several areas across Gaza, leaving an unknown number of Palestinians dead or injured.

Israel launched the war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, after Hamas-led resistance groups waged the surprise Operation al-Aqsa Flood against the occupying entity in response to its decades-long campaign of devastation against Palestinians.

The regime’s bloody onslaught on Gaza has so far killed 45,227 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured 107,573 others. Thousands more are also missing and presumed dead under rubble.

The Tel Aviv regime has also imposed a “complete siege” on the territory, cutting off fuel, electricity, food and water to the more than two million Palestinians living there.

The Israeli military has completely destroyed 70 percent of buildings in the Jabalia refugee camp as the occupying regime continues with its deadly aggression against northern Gaza.

Amos Harel, a military affairs analyst, wrote in the Israeli daily Haaretz on Sunday that the Jabalia refugee camp has become a “ghost town” amid Israel’s deadly offensive in the area.

Five "Israeli" soldiers killed in stabbing op. in Gaza

Al-Qassam Brigades said in a statement on Saturday that its fighters killed at least 5 Israeli soldiers in Jabalia, northern Gaza.

According to the statement, Al-Qassam fighters first ambushed and fatally stabbed three “Israeli” soldiers, taking their personal weapons, Roya News reported. The fighters then advanced to a nearby house where an “Israeli” foot patrol had taken cover. At the entrance, they killed two more soldiers and engaged the remaining forces in intense close-quarters combat.

This incident is the second stabbing operation targeting Israeli Occupation soldiers in Gaza within a matter of days.

Last Thursday, Al-Qassam Brigades revealed another significant operation in Jabalia. In that attack, a fighter stabbed an “Israeli” officer and three soldiers at point-blank range, killing them and seizing their weapons.

Fatimah Zahra; Role model for all women

On January 23, 2022, in expressing his congratulations on the occasion of the anniversary of the auspicious birth of Hazrat Fatimah Zahra (PBUH) and the celebrations of Mother’s Day and Women’s Day, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to the exemplary characteristics of Hazrat Fatimah Zahra (PBUH).

“Hazrat Fatimah Zahra should be a role model in all areas, especially in the areas of social and revolutionary moves,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Regarding the Islamic viewpoint, it can be said that Islam sees individuals as “human beings” when it evaluates them on the basis of Islam and as a person, the Leader has said in another speech.

Men and women have no priority over one another. They are not different in this. The equality of men and women in terms of human and Islamic values is one of the clear principles of Islam, he further noted.

Mother’s Day and Women’s Day coincide with the birthday anniversary of Fatima Zahra.

Who Fatima Zahra is

Fatimah Zahra; Role model for all women

Fatima Zahra was the daughter of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Lady Khadija and the wife of Imam Ali (AS).

Based on the popular opinion amongst the Shia, she was born in the 5th year after bi’tha (the beginning of the prophetic mission), wikishia reported.

She had numerous social activities and political stances. The migration to Medina, the treatment of the Prophet at the Battle of Uhud, bringing supplies to the Prophet at the Battle of Khandaq, and accompanying him during the Conquest of Mecca were just some of her activities before the demise of the Prophet, the source added.

Celebration of Mother’s Day in Iran

Fatimah Zahra; Role model for all women

Mother’s Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family or individual, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society.

Iranians celebrate two holidays dedicated to women at once – Mother’s Day and Women’s Day. The date was chosen in honor of the daughter of Prophet Muhammad, Hazrat Fatemeh Zahra (PBUH), who in the Islamic world is considered the ideal mother and role model for all Muslim women.

On Mother’s Day in Iran, many activities are held to commemorate mothers. Most children give their mothers flowers as gifts. Sometimes, men and children give their wives and mothers jewellery, such as earrings or necklaces.

In any case, each family has its own method of showing mothers gratitude on this day. Some families treat their mothers to dinner at a restaurant, while others call their mothers on the phone or send a postcard to show their affection. What is certain is that all involve a display of gratitude toward mothers.

But during the Covid-19 pandemic era, Mother’s Day was observed across the country under the shadow of Covid-19; therefore most people preferred to make video calls to remember and thank their mothers for all their kindness and affection.

On January 23, 2022, on the occasion of Mother’s Day in Iran, a commemoration ceremony was held in the presence of a large number of elderly mothers and others seeking aid at Kahrizak in Tehran, Iran Daily reported.

By the way, on this special day, people want their mother to know that they owe her everything and although they failed to realize it at times or show gratitude they do have our committed love for their mother and they know that even if they do not express it she can feel their affections.

NASA astronauts Sunita Williams, Butch Wilmore to have a quiet Christmas

The astronauts just got an extended stay in space—again! Their homecoming is now postponed until spring, marking 10 months of orbiting the Earth aboard Boeing’s Starliner capsule

NASA astronauts Sunita Williams, Butch Wilmore to have a quiet Christmas

NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore will face more time in space, return delayed till late March.

Cape Canaveral: NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore, who will be stuck in space till mid-next year, will have a quiet Christmas and ring in 2025 light years away from humanity.

The astronauts just got their space mission extended again. That means they won’t be back on Earth until spring, 10 months after rocketing into orbit on Boeing’s Starliner capsule. NASA announced the latest delay in Indian-origin Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore’s homecoming on Tuesday.

The two test pilots planned on being away just a week or so when they blasted off June 5 on Boeing’s first astronaut flight to the International Space Station. Their mission grew from eight days to eight months after NASA decided to send the company’s problem-plagued Starliner capsule back empty in September. Now the pair won’t return until the end of March or even April because of a delay in launching their replacements, according to NASA.

A fresh crew needs to launch before Wilmore and Williams can return and the next mission has been bumped more than a month, according to the space agency. NASA’s next crew of four was supposed to launch in February, followed by Wilmore and Williams’ return home by the end of that month alongside two other astronauts. But SpaceX needs more time to prepare the brand new capsule for liftoff. That launch is now scheduled for no earlier than late March.

NASA said it considered using a different SpaceX capsule to fly up the replacement crew in order to keep the flights on schedule. But it decided the best option was to wait for the new capsule to transport the next crew. NASA prefers to have overlapping crews at the space station for a smoother transition, according to officials.

Most space station missions last six months, with a few reaching a full year.

Abuja: Several children have died during a stampede on Wednesday at a holiday funfair in southwestern Nigeria, authorities said.

The incident happened at the Islamic High School in Basorun, Oyo State, near the economic hub of Lagos. Security forces attended the scene and arrested the event organisers, state governor Seyi Makinde said in a statement.

“Earlier today, an incident occurred in Islamic High School Basorun, the venue of an event organised for families. Sadly, a stampede at the venue has led to multiple loss of lives and injuries. This is a very sad day,” Makinde said.

“We sympathise with the parents whose joy has suddenly been turned to mourning due to these deaths,” he added.

Nigeria’s national emergency services said it has deployed a team to help provide assistance to the victims.

Children injured at the venue were taken to local hospitals where parents were asked to check for missing persons.

Video footage that appeared to be from the scene showed a large crowd of mostly children looking on as some children were being carried away from an open field.

Local media identified the event organisers as the Women In Need Of Guidance and Support Foundation, which held a similar event for children last year.

The group was preparing to host up to 5,000 young people at this year’s event, the Oyo-based Agidigbo FM radio station reported on Tuesday, citing the organisers who had featured on its program. Children “will win exciting prizes like scholarships and other bountiful gifts,” they said.

An investigation has been opened into the causes of the stampede, Makinde said, adding “anyone directly or remotely involved in this disaster will be held accountable.”

Indian-origin man jailed for life for mother’s murder at UK home

After killing his mother, Singh went out and bought a sack barrow and spade to dig up the garden. He intended burying Mrs Kaur’s body but was disturbed before he could do that.

London: A 48-year-old Indian-origin man who attacked his 76-year-old mother in their family home in Leicester, eastern England, has been found guilty of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment.

Sindeep Singh was arrested after Leicestershire Police discovered the deceased, Bhajan Kaur, with significant injuries to her head and face on May 13. Following a 16-day trial at Leicester Crown Court, Singh was found guilty of murder and sentenced this week to life in prison with a minimum term of 31 years behind bars before being considered for parole.

“This was a deeply disturbing case which uncovered the lengths Singh went to, to cover his tracks,” said Detective Chief Inspector Mark Sinski from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit Murder Investigation Team.

“After killing his mother, Singh went out and bought a sack barrow and spade to dig up the garden. He intended burying Mrs Kaur’s body but was disturbed before he could do that. The house had been cleaned and there was a very strong smell of disinfectant. There was clear evidence showing the planning after her death,” he said.

The detective revealed that when Singh was approached by officers, he provided false details and initially claimed to have no knowledge of the incident. But during the police investigation, it was established that Singh acted following several arguments over the ownership of the family home, which he believed had been left to him by his late father.

“This has been an extremely distressing and challenging time for Mrs Kaur’s family, they have been left devastated at the loss of their dear mother. They have shown immense courage and dignity throughout the investigation and subsequent legal proceedings,” he said.

“It is unfortunate that this case ended with a trial and the family had to sit through the proceedings and listen to the details of Mrs Kaur’s final moments. This is in no way easy for them – they’ve lost a loved one and will now have to live with the fact that Mrs Kaur’s life was taken by one of their own,” he added.

The court heard how previously Kaur had reported Singh for his behaviour and he was even arrested on suspicion of controlling and coercive behaviour and released on bail while those enquiries were ongoing. The investigation revealed that Singh had been living in his car on the driveway of the home, and on the day of the murder, Kaur had let him into the house.

CCTV evidence showed Singh leaving the property later on the same day and going to purchase a sack and spade from a nearby shop. He then returned to the house on Bolsover Street and when relatives were unable to get hold of Kaur, they went to her home where they discovered her body. When police officers arrived at the scene, they also found that ground in the rear garden had been dug up creating a large hole.

Saudi Arabia reopens embassy in Afghanistan

Saudi Arabia has resumed its diplomatic operations in Kabul, reopening its embassy on Sunday.

In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), the Saudi Embassy announced its decision to resume activities, emphasizing its commitment to providing “all services to the brotherly Afghan people.”

The embassy had been closed since February 2023 due to “security concerns,” KabulNow reported.

Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid had earlier revealed Saudi Arabia’s intentions to restart diplomatic operations in Kabul, describing the Kingdom as a key partner.

Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi recently met with Saudi representatives, expressing a desire to expand bilateral relations. Saudi officials reaffirmed their commitment to providing humanitarian aid and strengthening collaboration in various fields.
